Well another terrible turn out for a test in Perth, just over 50K for the entire match, biggest crowd was about 17k on day two.

Appetite and interest for test Cricket as really collapsed in WA, take the Ashes away and I doubt we will see many big crowds ever again at a Perth test.

They apparently needed a minimum of 20, 000 per day just to break even at Optus , begs the question what happens next, we desperately need a smaller venue for these types of events and WAFL and I guess they will return to the WACA once its done.

Pakistan have only won,  one test in Australia. In the last 40 years in a dead rubber series.
They have come to Australia with great players+teams. But allways fallen well short of whats required.
Coming out of Sydney the drums are beating. Some are saying we lose the first test.Others want all tests ,removed from Perth [Maxwell] +Twitter Trolls.
Fair to say Pakistan are rebuilding there test side.Like the West Indies ,last year.
Lets give it one more try with a better Test nation playing at Optus. Before we go back to the Waca.

With the China virus numbers slowly increasing across the country, wondering if some people (like myself) are still wary of big condensed crowds? Those quoted crowd figures do seem small and unusual for a test match.
Once the WACA is up and running, the cricket will return there no doubt.

But isn't the WACA capacity going to be reduced to 10k? That's totally inadequate for international cricket, even Big Bash and totally inadequate for a WAFL GF. Those crowds would have looked fantastic at the old WACA.

We've seen plenty of barren scenes at cricket matches over the years at the MCG with a spattering of spectators. Depends who you play doesn't it? Give us the Poms or the curry munchers at Optus and it's a completely different story. Didn't we nearly pack it out last year for some one day matches when India was here and Virat had his room broken into by a fan working as security ironically at Crown Towers.

Didn't hear anyone talking about poor attendances then.

Only test match worth having here at Optus would be v England , mainly due to huge ex pat UK population in Perth.

If we do ever get any others here they will be at the WACA once it's up and running. Just not viable at Optus.

no doubt Venues West thought a rebuilding Pakistan would draw a lot more in but until countries like this catch up there'll be poorer crowds

They probably do but I don’t think they cook it. Have you ever heard of Pakistan Curry? Never heard it said or read it on a menu or label.

Baz one thing thats good about a Perth Test
Is the east coast tv ratings. With Perth time difference. Its 8 pm stumps time on the east coast.Over the 4 days Foxtel averaged
189,000 viewers each day
Channel 7 average was 432,000 per day.
Kayo!!! might be included in Foxtels figures.
Radio audience Abc,MMM,Sen probably as big as the tv audience.
Their pretty good ratings for a game that runs for 6 hours a day.
+ viewing audience in Pakistan and India probably over 50,000,000 going on previous rating numbers.

Yes have heard some time ago the total attendance at the redeveloped waca is said to be being reduced to10 thou. Which seems small. Last I heard, the capacity was going to be increased to 15,000 people. Which is still a considerably smaller capacity than before.
