Cuddly aussie toys sold under the iconic ‘Australian Made’ label are made in china, then shipped here and are tagged at a warehouse as being Australian Made.
At the warehouse in Sydney, the “Handcrafted in China” tags are removed and replaced with the iconic green and gold Australian Made tags.
Apparently Autong use peasants and poor farming families in a chinese factory to make the toys. Would be no surprise if the importer was chinese too!
I must be the biggest idiot because here is me thinking the iconic Australia Made label is supposed to mean what it says!
And apparently the green and gold Australia Made labels are made in bloody china!

I realise many people don't know, wouldn't give a toss, couldn't be bothered, because it hasn't on their doorstep it's not an issue and generally don't care.
Just proves how far down the gurgler this country has gone!

Mate....I used to work for the WA Chamber of Commerce which administers the Australia Made programme and I can tell you businesses wanting to register have to go through a very stringent process to confirm their products are made here. If this is happening as you say, then they'll be taken off the programme and could be prosecuted for misrepresentation and false labelling offences.

Am well aware there is 'supposed to be' strict guidelines on using the iconic Australian Made label. And for many companies there probably is.
Apparently this story has been in the pipeline for a number of years and has only recently come to light. However I'd be tending to believe the investigators, and not the chinese importer behind it all.
