Gotta admit i rarely have picked the winner of the Melbourne Cup and this year will probably be no exception.
Ive backed "Cavalryman"at $61/1 $17 placefixed odds on sportsbet[hes since come into 41/1,not because of my 20 ew though].He will stay the distance and likes any track conditions.Drawn good barrier so should get nice run.
Im a Frankie Dettori fan,its one of his last rides for the stable,and i think he is due,is that a good reason to back him? NO
I thought "Americain"was a huge run in the Caulfield Cup and has won the race before,Dunaden blew em away in the same race but has heaps of weight in the cup.
The cup always gives up a roughie so hopefully it will be Cavalryman.

Always use Geelong Cup as my guide and had a big win on Americain a couple of years ago at good odds.
Placegetters in the Geelong cup didnt get a entry in the Cup so looked down the list. Like MALUCKYDAY who ran 5th in a very slow race at Geelong and jumped badly.
He is my bet for sure as form improving. 2nd to Americain in cup 2010. So sticking with the Aussie horse. Current price $13

I've had a EW on Maluckyday and also a Box Tri with Dunaden, Amercain, Red Cardeax, Mount Athos, Maluckyday and Lights of Heaven.

Lihts of Heaven is a good roughie with light weight, good form (ran 3rd in the Caufueld behind Dunaden & Alcopop as well as edging out Amercain at the same weight) and jucy odds at $17W & $5PL

Americain for me and a small go on Kelinni with Mr Group 1 G Boss in the seat.

Dunaden, Americain, Red Cadoux & Mount Athos to finish in the first 4 for me.
