Very scrappy and error riddled win. I'll give credit for hanging on after losing Fyfe with 9 minutes left in the 3rd qtr but I hope we've got some good ball users ready to step up because too many players can't kick off their wrong foot and some aren't much better off their right foot. It was comical watching 3 Fremantle players kick the ball out on the full in a row to allow St Kilda to pump the ball back deep into the forward line.

Too many players are flying for the same aerial contest and on most occasions it was Saints players that were there for the spillage out the back.

Fyfe will have to be rested for a week under the concussion rules so it's going to be a tough day at the office next week in the Derby. I sense a flogging is coming our way.

Dockers were lucky to get away with a push on Nunes in the goal square with about 90 seconds to go. If the Saints had got that they probably would have snatched the win as Fremantle looked like they were running up and down on the spot in the last 5 minutes.
The Derby was always going to be tough but it will be even tougher without Fyfe.

I watched a fair bit of the game on TV.

The Sainters were abysmal.

The Shockers only slightly less so. Three consecutive 4th quarter out-of-bounds on the full, under very little pressure. And 2 of them from Brayshaw, one of the (supposedly) more skillful players in the club.

Some of these early drafts for StKilda over the past few years.Are starting to play some good footy.Marshall a fantastic overhead mark.Who played ruck and went deep in defence with vital marks.Billings,Bruce.And a half a dozen more.
Apart from 20 minutes of amazing footy from Freo.Late in the first qtr and into the second. It was pretty low skilled but enormous pressure around the ball.

I thought there was a period in the first half which looked quite ominous for the opposition when I think it was Taberner, McCarthy and Lobb combined for 3 or 4 successive goals and Hogan I think had a hand in one of them but then later in the game it looked like a liability when the ball comes to ground. St Kilda seemed to waltz out of the back half too easily. It's going to be a tough balancing act for Ross. Brandon Matera probably played his best game for the club and we need that consistently from him.

Rossy must be doing the old CYA again. If he was serious in what he said about being proud of the team for winning despite losing one of their best players, then Freo’s Going nowhere this year. What he’s saying is no Fyffe, no Freo.
