I thought the term "retires" was a bit strange considering he never got going to start with. Just like a few other Freo players in recent times...Apeness promised a lot but delivered very little although would look good in Subi colours.

Strnadica must be filthy this bloke announces his "retirement" now in the last week of November just as pre season has started....he might have got another year as a rookie if Apeness had of called time earlier like most players do at the end of the footy season!

Strnadica was only let go because he was the only one of their 'bigs' who was out of contract at seasons end....he was easily the most inform on the field out of himself, Apeness, Meek, Dixon & Jones playing at Peel!

Still don't think he would have been retained.

2 years actually!!!!
Jones is also 23 turning 24 whilst Strnadica is only 20 and will get better as he builds into his body and is FAR more agile and versatile than Jones who can only play Ruck!
Fremantles loss at the end of the day one of many they have made over the years like keeping Apeness for 5 years for little result!

Very sad to hear the young player retired. Frustrated with the injuries. Rated highly by Freo.

He was too far down the chain.
You think Fremantle are the only side to have faith in their players!!
Fremantle will always be damned if they and damned if they don't.

Anchor how do you know Strnadica wouldn't of been retained if Apeness had decided to retire in September?.....strange you say Strnadica was so far down the chain, yet come the seasons end either Jones or Meek were the talls chosen to play in Peels reserves side when all 3 were available.....Seems like Strnadica was the only tall without a contract come the seasons end....thus easier to delist him then pay out one of the contracted talls......and then keep Strnadica on a higher contract because he would of been a 3rd year rookie if kept on.....the pay jumps up from a 2nd year rookie from 75K to 100K as a 3rd year rookie I read some where.....business is business I guess....works both ways come end of the day.....

The things players do to avoid being redrafted by Freo. Retire then pop up elsewhere, masterstroke by the big fella.....

I feel sad for him as it is obvious that he has talent but his body is obviously not up to the demands of AFL footy. Very honest unselfish decision of him to pull the pin at this stage to give the Dockers a chance to pick up another rookie, he could have easily just taken up their offer of another contract but he probably knew in his heart that he just wasnt up to it.
