However on the flip side you have to give credit to Collingwood for their desperation and desire in the face of considerable difficulties, with them being reduced to 2 men on the bench for the last quarter. Freo just didn't want it as much as the pies and it was ironical that the Dockers were the ones who looked fatigued in the final 15 minutes when the game was there for them to snatch. I think you also have to keep in mind that the Dockers are perhaps in a slightly false position on the ladder as on at least 3 occasions this year they have snatched victory in the dying minutes of a game from a team that had arguably played better over the whole 4 quarters. Freo's percentage I think is an indication that they have still a way to go before they are competitive with the big boys in the competition.
The positives yesterday were Conor Blakely who continues his development into an elite player and Luke Ryan showed a lot of poise for his first game.
Surely now its time to say goodbye to Jon Griffin, he is so clearly past his use by date and if Sandilands is going to be out again next week the selectors should take a punt on Darcy who has been in good form at WAFL level. Just when Matt Taberner appeared to be imposing himself a bit on games and holding his marks, he turns in a stinker like he did yesterday. If I was Ross, I wouldn't drop him back to WAFL, rather challenge him to play his role better next week
Mike I agree we are maybe in a position we shouldn't be in,But I disagree with one game.We dominated the Richmond game and then took a break. We should never have allowed our selves to get into the position we did.Even the others I thought we were pretty good for the game, just good enough to win them.
But yesterday, skill errors were rife. Not just skill errors by decision making.
But as you say, they wanted it more.We needed a lift from a few of the senior players late in the game.
Can some one tell me, why Michael Walters was penalised after taking a body on body mark in the third quarter?
It was an incorrect decision, then again a Freo player at a crucial time 35m out from goal ran thru a couplr of tacklers , then ran into his own teammate, got tackled by a collingwood player, and dropped the ball red hot, got replayed and all commentators said incorrect dispsal NO DOUBT., buy a ball up was called. The umps are terrible in all games, and no supporter fromeither side is happy these days. I think the Dockers % is more an accurate pointer as to where they are at
