Tough on Ballantyne, looks like his hamstring injury is going to keep him out for at least 6 weeks, with the worst case scenario being a return in round 8. He has certainly had more than his fair share of injuries in the last few years. Given that he is 29 and he requested a trade from Freo at the end of last year, what has this untimely injury done to his prospects of selection in the Dockers team when he is fit again? Is there a younger player who could play a similar role to him and could be developed as a forward line player?
At his best Ballantyne is a very effective player, particularly with the pressure he is capable of exerting in Freo's forward 50. I just wonder if his best footy is now behind him.

Hope it is his last game for Freo. Reminds me of Jeff Farmer

Anchor, I don't wish the man ill health. It's just that I think that while we are still rebuilding his age doesn't fit.

I would imagine that most people would understand what i mean about Farmer. Ballantyne's constant falling over (and in my opinion) attempts to make things look more difficult than they are pisses me right off.

I am also amazed that we got rid of Silvagni and kept Johnson. I have love Johnson and he is ex Perth (49 games for them even) but he is either passed it or injury prone for mine .

Fair enough about what you have said about Balla and he was great between '11 & '14 but '15 & 16 for me not good.

Never though Ross gave Silvagni enough time. I reckon a lot of injuries occur when you aren't backing yourself - Silvagni would have found it difficult to back himself with his (again I say for mine) obvious second fiddle role.


Johnson was great for us but unless we can use him as a ball reader who doesn't have to chase or put body on the line - his time is up for mine.
