I wouldn't think the Dockers would keep him with his record.
I can't see him being available at any stage this season.
As for the idea of elevating a rookie I would think that would be out of the question. It all comes down to the salary cap I think.I may be wrong , but, I thought to elevate a rookie, there had to be a spot available, or an injury.I can't see the AFL saying that there is a spot open because a player has broken the law.I think when Simpson took off, we played one down.

Yes I think you are right there. For a rookie to be elevated someone needs to be placed on the long term injury list and the dockers will be one down.

I think they may be able to elevate a rookie if he retired and wasnt delisted. Not sure about it and not sure that he would retire.

A rookie will be upgraded as he will have mental problems.

What a waste. Bloody sad. That's two indigenous boys with with a chequered history they have taken a punt on that hurt the club. Jessie Simpson the club gambled on while most other clubs passed. Was Shane Yarran rookie listed?

yes DD...I think he was then elevated towards the end of the year when Freo's injury problems got untenable. an absolute shame as I've spoken to him a few times at Subi games when he was there and a nicer, more quietly spoken and articulate individual you'd never meet...plus he has a young family. fingers crossed he was only an accessory or wrong place at wrong time and doesn't do jail time.

FFS, if only these lads realized that they have a talent that most of us would have dreamed of.

So its now official, Yarran has retired from the AFL. Inevitable I guess but what a waste of talent.

Nothing to do with the club, this was over 18 months ago. Yarran obviously has some serious issues and the decision to retire was oppropriate under the circumstances. Hell of a waste of talent, but he is responsible for his actions and it looks like a few years in jail.
I really hope he is able to turn his life around because at this rate he will not see much life on the outside. His football career is finished, hopefully he can defy the odds and make some sort of life for himself and his family. Good luck.
