Wow the guy is a serial offender. I think he is just clumsy rather than malicious and I don't think there was an awful lot in the incident today. However even a reprimand which will be his third of the year will be enough to see him suspended and ineligible for the Browlow. Surely now the coaching staff need to take him aside in the off season and try and look at modifying his playing style.

As for Freo I think their season is now in grave danger of falling away badly. They will beat Melbourne next week to confirm their top 2 spot but they are not playing anywhere near the level that would be required in a final whether it be at Subiaco or anywhere else.

Apart from the first quarter they were completely outplayed by the Kangaroos today. They are too reliant on too few and every other coach appears to have worked out Lyons game plan. It wouldnt have been so much of a concern if it had been just a one off poor performance today but I can't remember the last time they put 4 quarters of footy together and unless there is a total change of attitude and a return to the manic defence that was on show earlier in the season, I can even see them going out in straight sets if they are not careful.

Mikeh I didn't see much of the Freo game. However, I did see the incident you are talking about. The fact that the umpire reported him speaks volumes to the quality of the umpiring at the present moment. Although remarkably Suban wasn't suspended for his foul deed in forcing the Eagles' player to bite him; the Fyfe incident should take about 1 and a half minutes to be unequivocally thrown out.

I totally agree Swan 42 that there was little in it but it was still head high contact and the MRP have sometimes made an example of players who have been reported for this. Even if it is regarded as low impact Fyfe still will get a reprimand. I hope for his sake it is thrown out as you said.
As for the Masten report, yes that was a joke that WCE virtually put Subans integrity on trial and when it blew up in their faces some of the players blamed the victim. Pretty ordinary stuff I thought from the Eagles.

Again to put it into perspective what would you think if say Matty Rogers was reported for the same sort of contact?

Just had a look at Lyons press conference. He sounded frustrated with the skill errors and the fact that they dominated most of the key areas in the match but were unable to put a winning score on the board. You can't keep flogging the same game plan that Lyon has had at ST Kilda and Freo which hasn't resulted in a premiership in the past and is very unlikely to work this year either. Having said that there are some players at the Dockers who are cruising in the shadow of Fyfe and a few others and need to take a good hard look at themselves.

If i am a Freo supporter i am not worried about Fyfe and any Brownlow chances I would be more worried about a team that has not fired properly now for at least 7 weeks and are limping into the finals

Onya swan42, just do your Swans thing and slip into the umps. You ever had a go at it? If not, slip out and buy a whistle and see just how easy it is!!

The media keep saying that Ross has a plan and is using his top of table advantage. I would think that it's time he cranked it up, coz he doesn't have much of a buffer over the few teams that are breathing down his neck now. Who knows, maybe Freo will slip into gear now, but it had better be soon.

Not sure there is another gear and for a team that does not score big they miss too many shots at goal. Case in point, and only listening on the radio, Daniel Pearce today, set shot miss , he seems to do that a lot
