Scoreboard didn't tell the truth as Collingwood 's class was poor. They fumbled hand balls & couldn't hit a target. Freo reined supreme in ruck & defence + mids. Poles apart in desire to win & keep the ball. BUT look at who Collingwood beat prior. Just second rate teams. They aren't classy enough to play finals but the AFL try to help them with the draw.

Dont fool yourself, after the Freo stars, they ( freo) like all teams have some very average players, Sutcliffe Mayne, DeBoar , Sheridan ,Crozier etc. A bloke who has class is Darryl Pearce, BUT he sems to go missing when the hard stuff comes in. Also at the pointy end of the season ya need a couple of bit of strong marking forwards. Is pav cooked??

I thought Collingwood were bloody unlucky not to win it. They led Freo for most of the game. Brilliant contest though, very hard game. Walters was the difference. He kicked a goal inside the last 10 seconds of the 2nd quarter, and yet again in the 3rd. So basically 20 seconds from Walters cost Collingwood the win.

Agree Jardine. Freo are reliant on about half a dozen players in the team at the moment. The good thing is that they are winning games when the team is playing poorly and if they are going to have a form slump, this is the time of year for it. It absolutely baffles me that some of those guys get a game ahead of Tendai Mzungu, I am particularly thinking of Crozier and Sheridan.

Tendai in for Tommy Sheridan.

Zac Clarke in for Hannath.

Sutcliffe normally good but sprayed 3 kicks last night.

Not a night for big forwards - Cloke didn't kick any either
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

its interesting to hear some of the take on Fremantle, especially watching the Couch the other night. There were question marks on Fremantle which I find suprising. I know they don't score enough and they haven't settled on their big man setup. But they are 2 games clear at the top, and are 11-1 and apparently they have the 4th easiest draw in the run home. That will give Freo 2 home finals. They may have flaws, but this reality really gives them a leg up in September. I think they are a huge chance. Hawthorn are not going as good as normal, Sydney are the same and I still cant see Richmond as a threat, because they are notoriously kinked. I still see Collingwood and the Eagles as long term chances, not this year. They may not be ready yet. Anything else outside of this will be starting from too far back anyway. I think despite Freo's flaws, they still have enough to be a real chance, given the other big two's shortcomings. Of course injuries will be the key, but that goes for all sides. Fremantle however have a great buffer already, and that will help them from here on.

I watched 360 the other night and listened to Buckley say' We should have won the game"
How can that be. From memory Fremantle won all the major stats and they won the most important one..... they scored more than Collingwood. So how could it be that they should have won!!!
I was baffled.

I watched the match, and thought Colingwood prob should have won to be honest. Couple of well timed opportuntist goals helped Freo i thought.
Neither Cloke or White score a goal for the pies.
Question is, if Pav doesnt come good, can ya win a GF with no big marking forward??

Pav didn't kick a goal as was the case with Mayne and Hannath.
Maybe White and Cloke didn't kick goals because they were beaten by better players.
Well times opportunist goals!!!!! What does that mean Unka. I assume you are talking ablout the two late goals by Walters!!!Great roving goals I thought.
Well people are talking up the Pies, and if they can win it without Cloke kicking goals then I guess Fremantle have to be a good chance.
Not many supposedly good forwards kick goals on McPharlin.

hmm dont rate Mayne and Hannath as regular goal kickers a/man. walters kicked 4 and Hill 2 , 5 outta those 6 ( yes they were good goals) but right place right time, sometimes it comes off sometines it doesnt, this time it did. Cloke although im not a big wrap but is a strong marking forward, and at times in White. Pav had been quiet for a few weeks now, and i would hope if i was a Freo supporter that he aint cooked. Whether Freo or Pies won didnt bother me, i looked at as as a neutral. Just think the "rub of the green" in the end favoured Freo ( thats the way it goes). Time will tell if Freo is cruising or is not quite the form it had for the first 9 or so weeks of the season

Spot on as Wins count & near misses dont. A good draw left & no reason to bust their guts. Most teams including premiers have a few passengers. No team has all players on song at the one time. Collingwood should lose half of their last games to make them fodder. NOT a TOP FOUR side & easy beats if in the Top eight. Fremantle & Hawthorn look top two. Swans look good only when fielding their best team but should be top Four so that leaves WCE,Port & Richmond for the last spot.
