I can't see the sense in having that mantra. Doesn't every club have it? Can't think of any club refuse to play anywhere, any time, anyone?

Back to the theme, as much as I hate Freo, I feel really sorry for Johnson. Imagine going through the year hoping you'll get another shot in the big one to redeem yourselves and then being outted by injury.

Hawthorn at the MCG & Launceston, Port & Adelaide at AO, St Kilda at Etihad.............

The Dockers had their chance for a flag last year. They are playing at nowhere near the intensity that is required this year. There were far too many passengers today. They will probably win next week but Hawthorn will blow them away in the prelim

Taberner was awful, surprised Ross didn't sub him out instead of Pearce. That dropped mark uncontested at the top of the goal square in the 3rd qtr was inexcusable. Even Fyfe was guilty of several stray handballs and got beaten too easily in a one on one in the last qtr that resulted in a goal. Pav was fantastic and the backline I thought stood up well. We had our chances throughout the game but failed to capitalise.

To be honest I'm not too confident about winning next week but I hope we do because I'll be interested to see if Ross Lyon and the players have learned anything from last years grand final against Hawthorn at the G.

Heard somewhere during the week that in the past 7 seasons of AFL footy the 2 teams that won the qualifying final matches played off in the GF. Sydney v Hawks......again. Ross Lyon game plan to fall just short again for the umpteenth time although in defence of this season Johnson's injury came at a shocking time of the equation unfortunately for Freo who realistically appeared as the only chance of knocking either of them 2 teams off.

I think Lyon made the right call re: Taberner, he was bad but will grow, Pearce on the other hand has a problem with his ticker. Fyfe was good most of the day, Mundy was down. Sydney were very good as you would expect, they finished top, played in Sydney so no surprise that they won. I thought the make shift back line performed as well as you could hope and Freo stuck to it all day, just weren't good enough to get the points. Sydney won the midfield and that's what wins games of footy. I don't think you could knock Freo's intensity or application, they were beaten by a very good footy side.
