From the article in the West this morning, it would appear that there is still a fair bit of residual feeling by Mark Harvey towards Fremantle concerning his sudden sacking in 2011. He has refused an invitation to the clubs 20th anniversary dinner and would not be interviewed for the book commemorating the occasion.

No one can now dispute the correctness of the decision of the Freo board to appoint Ross Lyon, however given the fact that Harvey was a major contributor to making the Dockers the on field force that they are in 2014 and at the time of his sacking, most Freo supporters were very uncomfortable with the manner in which Harvey was removed, I am wondering whether the club could have made more of an effort to bring him back into the fold earlier? Perhaps they have but it is nearly 3 years since this happened and you would think that the rawness would have worn off by now? Perhaps the fact that the people who made the decision are still at the club is a contributing factor?

Just a little sad that Mark isn't taking part because his decision to rebuild the list in 2008 set the foundations for this current team pushing for a premiership

Pretty pathetic if you want my opinion. The Freo board sacked him because, in their opinion, there was someone better to do the job. How is that any different to Harvey being a party to the de-listing of players because in his opinion the player does not fit into his planning?

Mikeh how many years did Luke Pratt get on Freo's list? Was this during Harvey's time as coach of Freo?

I think he was recruited in 2008 as a rookie and was delisted at the end of 2009 having played 1 AFL game. So this was in Harvey's reign. By the way do you know if Luke is still at Swans? I noticed him in a few reserves games earlier in the season but I have not seen him on field for a long time.

As I said in my original post, I don't think that many people would have a problem with the actual decision. The way it was done left a sour taste for some, for example the apparent deceit of allowing Harvey to speak at a breakfast about the next year when the club knew very well that he was not going to be coach and one of the guys who made the decision was sitting next to him. Obviously could have been handled better.

With respect to Luke Pratt I believe he did his knee again.

Most coaches get sacked or walk out. Malthouse walked as did Lyon. That's what make them lonely disgruntled men. TOO self centred. To quote MY FAIR LADY " just you wait.." Harvey deserved better.

agreed anchor....it's not the first or last time a coach has been sacked with a year still to run on his contract..
