Spot on Swan, there are double standards when it comes to MRP/Tribunal decisions

BC it is unfortunate his name is not Franklin, Ablett junior or Glass et al; if it was then it would have been insufficient force or didn't make contact etc etc.

Pity the umpire didn't see the blatant push in the back by one of the GWS players on Ballantyne in a marking contest.

fair point 42 but I also think Ballas makes a rod for his own back. don't get me wrong.. I'm a Freo fan and a huge admirer of Ballas but one of these days he'll do something stupid and give away a free kick or 50 meter penalty which may cost Freo a game or even a final.

Agree with you BC in terms of how important he is to Franklin. What I find difficult to rationalise how other actions from Franklin and others are considered too low to warrant a suspension; yet what Ballantyne did, and contrary to what some commentators stated that the guy fell to ground even though that only occur when Ballantyne pushed him to the ground, is high enough to warrant a suspension. To paraphrase the classic: all men are born equal; though some are more equal than others.

Swan I always reckon you are fairly reasonable fella but ballantyne gets what he deserves with his record and on going behaviour, to suggest that he is treated differently is like saying Swan or Billings or even JON don't or didn't deserve their outocmes from their antics. Suggesting that if was a Franklin or Galss that it would be different is a little silly.

I like watching the guy play football but only football the other stuff is at times over the top. Niggle is a good thing, antagonising ur opponent is a legitimate process but he steps outside the line, perhaps like another ex dorker Solomon.

Grump what he did was indeed stupid and on balance probably warranted a one week suspension. The point I was making was that there are many, many examples of actions which also should result in at least one week off. How can anyone possibly suggest that what Ablett did a couple of weeks ago did not warrant at least a one or two week suspension, even if you suspend the laws of physics and believe that no contact was made to the head. Presumably when you have suspended your belief in reality you will also have no trouble believing that there were only two cameras which had vision of the incident. To recapitulate the problem is not what Ballantyne got but why don't others don't get cited?

completely agree 42 that buddy, goodes and ablett should have copped time as well when you compare it to Fyfe's two weeks for an accidental head clash...i also think Ballas should get a week for what he did..do the crime serve the time...its the inconsistency which I think drives fans to distraction.

Swan, Accepted but I think that the only thing that springs to mind is that the reviewers will gloss over the footage except where ballantyne is involved, bit like the boy who cried wolf, he has a reputation and there fore they look harder. Not right but I reckon that is what is going on!

I would like to him to do a Malcolm Brown and make a promise NOT to be dumb and then perhaps he would win a medal.

That only worked for about 1 season, he lost the plot somwhere down the track in a dozen or so other seasons
