Freo far too big & strong, and had complete dominance after quarter time. Maggies worth another chance next game with Reid & White to come in a Cloke getting a kick. Collingwood seem to have too many under five tenners

I know that was only the first game of the season, but the Dockers were pretty damn awesome tonight. Certainly made the magpies look third rate. All the usual suspects, (Barlow, Mundy, Fyfe etc) were great but Sheridan and Sutcliffe slotted in nicely. Sandilands dominated in the ruck and I lost count of the number of direct taps to the advantage of Freo players running on to the ball. No passengers at all. Wonderful start to the season, made even better by the sight of Eddie sulking in the stands.

Maybe a bit of both.
But where do you start to name best players.Fyfe,Hill,Mundy,Mzungu,Johnson,McPharlin etc etc etc.It goes on and on.A totally good over all performance for round one.
As you said Sutcliffe and Sheridan were very good, going to make it hard for Clancee and Suban to regain their spots.I was also impressed by the work rate of Jack Hannath. He worked hard all night.A keeper for sure.
Our next game should be a given against GWS.Then it get interesting with Hawthorn,Essendon,Swans,North,WC,Port and the Cats.A very interesting run up to the break for us.This will make or break us or at least get us an indication of how good we are.

Collingwood gave it their best shot in the first quarter but still only found themselves one point up at quarter time. Fremantle were just too strong physically and Collingwood were not allowed any easy possessions. The chasing and tackling by Mayne particularly was fantastic. There were Freo players everywhere and all were hungry for the ball. I think Collingwood are rebuilding this year but they still have a core of experienced players, Pendelbury, Swann, Beams, Sidebottom etc so they will still challenge for the 8 in my view. They were also missing Reid and Jesse White tonight although I'm not sure that they would have made much difference to be honest as they were smashed in the midfield.

Challenging run for the Dockers over the next 8 weeks, in fact they play Gold Coast next week, not GWS, so that is not a gimme either. I reckon if they are 6-3 or better after 9 games they will be in a pretty good spot for the 2nd half of the season

GWS are no longer a gimme either if they keep playing the way they did on Saturday. Man they played good footy!

As for Freo, they looked very sharp and you can see why they are one of the flag favourites. They just choked the Pies.
Fyfes response to getting the red vest was absoltely classic.
