According to Damian Barrett last night on the footy show, Fyfe is asking for around the 800k per year mark and atm Freo are about 200k short of that. Another club (presumably interstate) has also said that they are willing to throw $1.1mil at Fyfe.
Not looking good for freo. The sooner they get it sorted and pen to paper the better as the vultures are circling.

Anchorman I don't think Pavlich, Mundy or Sandilands would have been offered the same as Fyfe even on a relative standard ($1.1m sort of proves that, maybe if he was offered the $800k then that would be relative).

Sandilands was touted as trade bait, and then wasn't traded, if their was that much interest in him we would have heard about it and he would have been traded.

Mundy is a great midfielder and no doubt would have been offered more by Melb clubs, but not in the same class as the touted Fyfe's offer (and rightly so I believe).

Yes Pav would have made more money going back home, agree with that, but it still wouldn't be relative standard. If Mundy and Pavlich were offered these amounts, I have no doubt they probably would have left, Fremantle were not doing much back then and they wouldn't have any hesitation leaving for more money and to be at a more successful club (if it was).

Yolo, $1.1m seems about right, $800k a year for a 23 year old isn't too bad either haha. Not looking good at all. I guess that is where their money will be spent from their spoiled attempts, keeping their youngsters who have gotten them to a Grand Final.

Wild guess. If Freo win the flag this year, then Fyfe to Hawks.

So after this season regardless we lose Mundy and Fyfe!!!!I think not.If the club had to lose it would be Mundy because of his age.

Club on the slide? At this point and until the end of the GF, they are a better side than yours, mine and others. Anyway, it may well be about money and Hawks will have a bit of room for him. Freo will have to shell out or the Vic clubs will.

You are not talking about Freo of 5 or so years ago, this is a very professional and well run club, they won't lose either.

Maybe, maybe. It could happen. The Eagles have a fairly good record of retention, so maybe your dorks can do the same. Just don't let your blinkers blind side you. BTW, I don't remember saying that the dorks will slide next year.

All I am saying is stranger things have happened in recent years when it comes to trading and the free agency and historically it doesnt look good for Freo - not for the fact that it is Freo but because since the free agency came into it there is a greater percentage of players moving from clubs than staying at their club when they put off contract talks until the end of the season. Im not saying it has anything to do with the Freo of 5-10+ years ago.
As for the whole 'Freo sliding next year' thing I think that IF Freo win the flag this year then I can see Pav, Sandi and McPharlin doing a Crawford and retiring. This will leave a massive hole down the spine of Freo's set up. I think Freo's ruck stocks are fine in Griffin and ZC, but at the moment I dont think you have the players to replace Pav and McPharlin. This could cause Freo to slide a little bit (dont think it will be out o the 8 though).

I agree Yolo, replacing Sandi with Griffin and Clarke wont be much of a loss. But Freo has tried drafting to replace Pavlich for some years now, and at the moment their is no one that would be even close to being able to fill those shoes. Losing that power forward will critically hamper fremantle, puts extra pressure on the small forwards who don't have the distraction of the power forward to fall behind.

Also, McPharlin is easily one of the best (if not the best) key position defenders in the AFL. Freo also doesn't have anyone ready to fill that void at all. If Yolo's scenario was to happen, I would predict Freo would not make the 8 the following year, (and slide even lower if Fyfe/Mundy go).
