Yeah that sums it up Unka,everyone at the pub I was at turned around and asked who was going to win the norm smith,,,and nobody could think of anyone decent enough,,,ordinary display across the board,

I honestly think Gunston should have won the Norm Smith.
Yes Lake got a fair few possessions and intercept marks etc, but Pav still kicked 3 goals. And what if Pavlich kicked straight, would Lake still have been given the medal?

Well what the Dockers did by beating Geelong in Geelong is ensure that there will never be another final in Geelong in the forseeable future.

Lyons becoming a professional gf loser, Whatley gave a run down of all the low scores his teams had kicked in GFs,,,pretty hard to win them like that,,,a 1 goal half was deplorable.

In saying that, it was a pretty ordinary gf, mistakes, poor skills never reached any great heights and the lead never changed once.

Bazza for all of Hawthorn's domination Freo got back to 3 points. Yes Hawthorn won the game,; but it is delusional of Whateley and indicative of his bitter and spite towards Freo to say that they never had a chance. When you are only 3 points down with over a quarter to go you cannot possibly suggest that a team has no chance of winning.

With respect to 'Subans (sic) eye gouging' I suggest you either watch the vision or enrol in a human biology course. He was nowhere need the eye.

Again with respect to Whateley and his comment about Lyon's teams' low scores in GFs, one would have to wonder how Fyfe kicking two shots out of bounds in the first quarter and various other bad misses by the players in the first half could be construed to be part of Lyon's game plan. One would suggest that the Dockers' players in the first half were overcome by nerves given the import of the game. It should be noted that many a team could have been overrun in the last quarter when Hawthorn got out to a 30 point lead. Perhaps Whateley might have an explanation about the inside 50 statistics for Freo in the GF. Then again he might not.

To counterbalance Whateley's jaundiced view one would use Jason Dunstall's comment that he was never confident that Hawthorn would win the GF until the end of the match.
