Signs finally starting to look good for Fremantle after that pathetic first game. It's probably the strongest and most even spread I've seen across all lines. Even in the Ross Lyon era there were weaknesses, most notably Pav was always playing a lone hand as the tall forward.
Imagine Pav today with Treacy and Amiss beside him? With a fit Cox down back along with young guns Chapman and Draper the backline looks solid.
Still like to see 1 or 2 taller mids. Persist with Erasmus, give Brodie another crack and hopefully Fyfe can make it back but that's looking less and less likely. Plenty of ruck options but Jackson now injured. Darcy now looks fit hopefully can get a good run at it carrying less puppy fat.
Small forwards look exciting. Isaiah Dudley looks like he's got a few tricks, Bolton settling in and of course fast Freddy. Now got to find consistency.
Brodies is done. Doesn't get involved in enough plays.Good at ruck contests, but hopeless when the ball is moved away. Does not contest enoughmid field.
I thought Erasmus was unluckt to be dropped after his Derby performance. But I think O'Meara had to come back in.
Have loved Fyfe, but not sure he fits now. Injury has caught up with him.
In the same vein is Walters. Constant injury is leaving him vulnerable. With the advent of Dudley, his place is less secure.
I was not a fan of Jackson rucking, and maybe after the weeken, my concerns were justified. It is the best game he has played in Purple. But doing a hammy.. not good.
Dudley has, as does Reid, footy smarts and nous. That can not be taught.
Darcy is a must. He is the mortat we need. As Longmuir said, he is still one of the best rucks in the competition.
The puppy fat... it is like the conundrum, which comes first, the chicken or the egg.His injury and having to carry it through games, cost him his preseason in the past.
Not able to, or instructed not to train to much.He looks good at the moment and only regular hard work will keep his weight down.
Probably Darcy and Young back this week will add size to our mid field.
