Freo took Cerra at pick 5 ahead of Naughton who went to the Dogs for pick 9.  Was it a good decision or not?  For mine, midfielders are a dime a dozen whilst quality KPPs are a rarity and imo Freo got it very wrong.  Even moreso if Cerra heads back east at year's end.

Always easy drafting in hindsight BC but I think everyone would take Naughton ahead of Cerra atm. He's a potential 500 goal player. Probably  more relevant question from that draft In hindsight is would you take Naughton or Oscar Allen?

That's a very good question Tiger. It's a toss of the coin at the moment but given Naughton leads the AFL in contested marks, if I had to choose I'd probably go for him.

Naughton would never play for Fremantle if they were the last team on earth after their disgraceful decision dropping him for the WAFL GF vs SU to include that complete and utter spud Zac Dawson (Ross Lyon's mate) who lasted all of 5 minutes before injured as well.
You didnt even need 5 years of hindsight to see Naughton at 18 was a far better player than Dawson ever was!

Spot on BH, they treated him with so much disrespect he was never going to be in purple. doggies are on fire and have a very even team and a 1st class coach so why would you even consider Freo. Re Allen or Naughton, very close call but I'd go with Allen as he is more versatile, can play forward down back and in the ruck.

I don’t think it’s going to matter Bazza.  The top 4 look like they’re there to stay.

Fyfe certainly and maybe Walters are done for the season so maybe time for Freo to really push their youth even more and see what they have in the cupboard for 2022, 2021 is done and dusted.

I remember that draft well. We were handed pick 2 for Lachie Weller which was a trade masterstroke by Fremantle who played one of the great all time poker hands in AFL. That gave them picks 2 and 5. They rated Brayshaw highly so to the surprise of many took him at pick 2 as they thought NM would take with their first pick which was pick 4 I think who took Davies-Uniacke. Cerra and Brayshaw had become good mates playing representative football for Victoria so they picked him.

I must admit Brayshaw has surprised me, in his first couple of years I thought this guy can’t kick, he butchers it, especially around the goals. He seems to have worked hard on those aspects of his game and is a determined type of character and is now considered a walk up start to be next captain to take over from Fyfe, maybe sooner rather than later.

I’m a bit on the fence with Cerra, maybe during these Covid times I can understand someone wanting to be closer to his family. While it’s great for him over here it’s obviously bloody hard for him to see his family with Victoria the most locked down state making it difficult to go home to see his family or stay back for a few days after a game in Melbourne which I’m sure AFL clubs allow players to do.
Get on your bike.
