That’s what I heard today. Cripps and Cerra both coming out of contract and Cripps family was affected by the recent cyclone in Kalbarri. Carlton are confident they’ll get Cerra. They’ve also got Petreski-Seton coming out of contract. I wouldn’t be interested In him. Fyfe and Cripps in the same team? I’d like to see that.

I rarely watch Freo play, but what I’ve seen, wouldn’t that just be one in one out?  They’re both very good ball getters.
Maybe I should be asking STD, he’s a Freo closet fan and would know more.

I’d be wary of giving up too much for Cripps, has played a lot of footy and possibly has shoulder problems developing, his best footy may be behind him. Awesome ball getter but not great disposal so Fremantle shouldn’t sell the farm to get him. Petrevski Seton on the other hand wouldn’t require anywhere near as much negotiating to secure and whilst his career has been underwhelming so far he may have some good footy in front of him, I reckon the Eagles would compete strongly with Fremantle for him but won’t have as many cards on the table

Yep...agree ToOl.  WCE paid overs for Kelly and Freo wouldn't want to make the same mistake for Cripps.

Agree Cripps has had a few mostly back complaints I think through his career but still only 26, Cerra is only 21 but Cripps at this stage is a bigger impact player. Cerra has the most upside potentially. I wouldn’t be offering anymore than a straight swap.

It might not come down to swapping players with Carlton anyway, there are other players Fremantle might be interested in. I think Fremantle need to be careful about getting too many indigenous players in the club. I’d be looking at draft picks or make enquires if the likes of Tim English, Aaron Naughton and Luke Jackson are interested in coming home.

I rate Cripps in amongst the elite group of big mids that can dominate AFL games, Cripps, Fyfe, Bontempelli, Mundy and the like can take gamesapart at times so would be trying very hard to get his signiture if he wanted to come back home.

As for Naughton, a wonderfully skilled lad with one of the best marks in the comp, I'd be very surprised if he ever considers Freo after the disgraceful way they treated him by leaving him out of Peels 2017 flag team so that hopeless hack Zac Dawson could have a game, all at the behest of the FFC and their Coach Ross Lyon. Dawson lasted 15 minutes before heading to the bench injured. Naughton must be loving his time with a professional well run and currently successful club like the Doggies who are right in the middle of a big premiership window whereas Freo are right in the middle of a windowless cave with no map on how to get out.

DD, a straight swap Cripps for Cerra? I don’t think that’s realistic at the moment, Carlton would never entertain that.
Naughton probably ungettable and would require a lot more than just Cerra.
Could Logan McDonald be gettable, in a 3 way club swap that would send Cerra to a Victorian club where he is likely to want to go if he leaves, which I think he will.

Yep why not, Cerra is 5 years younger than Cripps. Might be a similar trade to the Judd - Kennedy trade where the Eagles also received pick 3 which they used to draft Chris Masten. Even if you took pick 3 out of the trade I think most would agree WC ended up with a better of the trade long term. I think it has that sort of potential but anyway I saw last night on the news they are saying a deal is imminent that Cripps will sign for another 4 years at Carlton.

I’d possibly be be looking at Shai Bolton at Richmond too, he’s a special talent.

Why not? Because Carlton would be swapping one of the comps established premier midfielders for a player four years younger who hasn’t really arrived yet as a genuinely good player in my opinion, Fremantle would have to throw a low draft pick in there as well.
Bolton is I think the same age as Cerra and there’s no way Richmond would even consider a straight swap of those two, Cerra is nowhere near the level Bolton is at currently.

Academic discussion now because Cripps has signed a long term deal with Carlton
