JLo is quickly stamping his own methods on Fremantle with better ball movement, strategy and skill level. He is showing a ton of faith in the young midfield by leaving Fyfe and Walters as stationary forwards most of the time, something Ross Lyon wouldn’t have done and that would have stifled the growth of the young midfielders.

One wonders if Ross Lyon would have thrown Caleb Serong into the centre from day one against the best or started him off on a half back flank or run with roles?

Only weakness I see so far is our ability to score. I don’t think the forward line is functioning that well. Taberner is obviously having a career best year now his body seems to be holding up but I’m not convinced about Rory Lobbs value up forward. He’s got the goal kicking jitters and I think that’s affected his marking which is usually his one wood.

I just see him at the moment as a handy mobile back up ruckman. Now Hogan is back he and Taberner and the small forwards need to work on their chemistry. I reckon the Eagles forward line is the benchmark of the AFL and we are a long way off that. Fyfe and Walters are part of that forward line and they are senior players so they need to lead the way.

I'm a bit confused about the way they are treating Conor Blakely. He is obviously out of favour with the hierarchy because I cannot believe that he is not in the top 22 players at the club, yet he has only played a handful of games.

I'm with you on that Mike but I thought at the end of last year he said he wanted to be traded and his wish was to go to the Gold Coast. Maybe his heart wasn't in it at the time at Fremantle and he looked out of condition. JL has obviously told him what he needs to do to get back in the side.

I thought he made a difference when he came back in because he is a bull around the contest and gets the hard ball out to the runners and better ball users. He can butcher the ball sometimes but can't they all? Serong is clearly in front of him but he's obviously dropped behind a few others including Mitch Crowden who is having a break out year.

I guess the question is who's spot does he take? Probably a better player than Fredericks but is he a small forward?

Aish has been a bargain recruit and Blake Acres last two games were a lot better than his previous matches back from injury. I would say the player Blakely is competing with the most is Andy Brayshaw. Similar types, maybe Brayshaw has him covered for out and out work rate but not a good finisher.

Yep, why you don't think so? I think he is that small forward they've been missing, great tackler, hard at it, good finisher and has had the occasional run on the ball. I think he's in the best 22 now for the first time. Up until now been a fringe player. Him and Lachie Shultz are a good combination.

He only averages 8 possessions a game and with numbers like that you’d want him to be a really good user of the ball, which I don’t think he is. I think the jury is still very much out on him.

I no understand.

Best two players mainly stationary forwards but are also freos biggest weakness with inability to score...

I would have thought if u put your 2 best players forward, more scoring...

You were saying? Next highest score this week was 20 points less that Freo’s score.

Freo's points scored this year is the second lowest in the comp.

Give them some time LS, they are still struggling to get out from under the horrific dead head no skills clog up the game and make it look shite game plan that Lyons had them drilled in for years. I think Longmire has done a great job so far, expect higher scoring next year especially if Taberner continues his improvement and Hogan can stay physically and mentally fit. Of the two small forwards, Schultz looks more damaging at the moment, Crowden is a real tough nut and a great tackler but currently lacks the finishing polish that Schultz is now showing. Plus need more goals from Fyfe and the promising band of the young minds. Backline looks very solid especially with those 3 injured boys to come back in for '21. They should be in the mix for the lower end of the 8 next year if they can keep their A graders on the paddock.
