I have been quite surprised at the lack of comment on this site and the media about Freos victory last Saturday. By any standard it was an outstanding comeback from 6 goals down at quarter time and shows a level of resilience and character amongst the group that has been missing under the previous coach. I think that they are finally on the right track under Longmuir and once they stabilise their injury situation the Dockers are going to be very tough opponents, especially in Perth. I would certainly give them a chance of upsetting the Eagles on Sunday. What do people think

It was a great comeback Mike and even acknowledged by the scribes in the East. I post a few weeks back is our close losses a good sign or a false economy? I think they have answered that question the last 2 weeks.

Finally I think we are starting to see some maturity from Brayshaw and Cerra, maybe the new first year recruits have shone the spotlight on them to show the way and step up. They showed they can do it the last two weeks without Fyfe and with Fyfe restricted. Fyfe might not be available this week so that will be a huge test.

We just can't catch a break with injuries.

To be honest I'm starting to wonder about Freo's medical and S&C teams. They've had close to the longest injury list in the AFL for a few years now and couldn't get Bennell up over three years but after a only a few months, he's now playing footy for Melbourne...I'm not sure what that's telling us if anything, but it certainly makes me wonder.

I wonder if the surface at Cockburn is too hard BC? When Lathlain was first resurfaced it was rock hard, like a bowling green. But I noticed in the recent scratch matches in the last fortnight the surface there is a lot more spongy now. Not sure if that has been a deliberate tactic by the Eagles to soften the surface or maybe the Jim's Mowing contractor is away on leave?

It certainly raised my eyebrows when Fyfe only missed a week. I think there’s a bit of room for old fashioned footy protocol of “give it one more week” than listening too much to the sports scientists and bio physical experts and high performance specialists that clubs have now. Especially with players of Fyfes value with a history of leg issues.
The other one that raised questions was Hogan feeling calf pain in the FIRST quarter and then “bravely” (stupidly) playing out the game?
