The financial situation , WP might not be able to pay him as well next year , who knows or the GF thumping the last straw. Either way I reckon going to EF is a nightmare assignment.

As

A bit like 1969 when a certain team won the wooden spoon and along came a new coach Hassa Mann and South win the 1970 grand final. From basket case to premiers in 12 months. Probably the greatest turn around of all time occurred when Swans won the 1961 premiership after winning the wooden spoon with two wins in 1960. History records many significant turnarounds as can be seen by the performance of recent AFL sides in Western Bulldogs, Richmond and Collingwood. Where there is life there is hope.

History records far more back to back poor performances that magic turn arounds, not that they don't happen just that they are very rare in deed.

SF 1969 were a lot more competitive than EF in 2018 , SF 1969 had 5 wins and a percentage of 77% EF had 2 wins and a percentage of 52% , and in 1970 there wasn't a team like Subiaco dominating the club in such a overwhelming way, its impossible to compare the WAFL of 1970 to day.

hmmm Bazza pretty sure Perth won flags from 1966 -68 on the trot and runners up in 70....plus EP were runners up 4 times in that time period....yep no undefeated seasons for both....but only two teams seemed to appear in GF over that time period....isn't that a definition for dominance?....but yeah can't see a wooden spooner these days doing what SF did back in 1970 with how lopsided the WAFL is now days....but reckon Perth and EP owned the WAFL back then like Subi have of late with 5 GF appearances on the trot

You had about 4 or 5 teams really powerful over the 60s, WP, EP, P, SD and EF , South had come off a power period in the 50s, to compare that period of very diverse competition to how Subi have dominated for well over 10 years is pretty odd. Then there's the Peel freak impact as well, that didn't exist in the 60s.

Odd comparison in what way Bazza?....statisically over the last 10 years there have been 6 different premiers, yes Subi have played in 8 GF......but from the period I am talking about mid sixties to mid seventies there were 6 different premiers as well....with EP playing in 7 of those GF ....like Subi, EP played in 5 on the trot as well...but odd to see, despite Subi's dominance of late, 5 other teams have won the flag in the last decade besides Subi.....whilst during the time period of SF 1970 rags to riches flag, despite there being a number of "powerhouses" as you say, 5 other teams besides EP, won premierships during a similar 10 yr period......I guess tho with EP playing in only one less GF than Subi and losing most of them, they are less dominant....so I see your point that my comparison of those eras is completely odd...LOL

Have a look at other thread on the dominance of Subi since 1987 ...its an odd comparison alright,

The mere fact they broke the 1946 record this year should ring an alarm bell even for you.
