Swandog wrote: Hey Growler they reckon Garlett good but not special! Ahahaha mate he was the most talented player on the park yesterday by a street! Those blokes will eat their words in a few years, funny all the guys you mentioned had ok games but wasnt great, Nelson gets a bit of it but his disposal is shocking, Van Berlo is serviceable but no star, Browne did a nice job on Ugle bit overall too many influencial WP didnt fire a shot really like Razor, Guad and Kerr was hardly sighted, in fact i didnt think he was even playing at one stage.
West Perth will bounce back and have a lot more fighting spirit and hardness than last year, and i agree with your thoughts on Manning, he is a good hard footballer, you just lack quality finishers atm to get reward for effort. Stockley was beaten and disappointing, Lammie gave Keunan a bath too and overall i thought our taller players were better, an area i was worried about going in. A long season ahead and i would be happy to be 4/2 with room for lots of improvement

Yeah - I guess you have to remember I have no idea what the eastern papers have been saying about Garlett - but that's the comment from the boys. They mentioned some others of your players doing well on the day but to be honest I was interested in the WP titbits...
As for the remainder of your comments on the game, I read them as a fair assesment from a rival team supporter.
I agree that its early and outcomes have yet to be seen of the improvements ahaed.
I stiill believe though if WP doesnt plan for a Small forward line and begin to spot the open players /loose this selfish individualism, we will struggle for a little longer
Cheers for the great post

PS
I get the impression that the people who pick best on ground in the papers etc are stats driven - not by assessing a game - lazy reporting if thats the case and wrong for those players who dont do the 'specky stuff' but instead the 'hard yards'...

Bill was very subdued addressing the players after the game, his main concern was the number of points kicked and the one goal five points kicked in the first half of the last quarter. Young Johnson had a bad cork and didnt play much after quarter time, one member said he should be dropped because he didnt do to much in the game. One member vented his anger at Bret saying sack the coach. Armchair experts, they havnt got a clue.

Crisp took on Garlett and tried to upset his game physically and it didn't work, if anyone should be dropped it should be Crisp.

Re: Crisp - I would have thought a players strategy would have been viewed or watched and decided upon from the coaches box.?

Surely the decision for Crisp to play the way he did and continue to do so on the day would not have been left solely to himself? Especially if ineffective...

There are several new roles the guys have take on this year - especially in the back line & for some they are developing the strength to carry this out on a weekly basis - - with the new forward defensive game plan it seems one half is working really well in that the ball is strangled to get out, but they still havent worked out how to kick to smalls on the way in so that the score board reflects the hard work and then of course goal kicking needs to be highlighted from the info I have?

"Pain before gain" - hopefully not too much pain................

Thanks again Cardy. I wasn't at all unhappy that my tip for this game was incorrect. :)

Growler agree 100% on your comments. Coaches job! Crispy has been having a good Season this year
Hey Ric SD win mate. I think we will have to check out what Supplements Swans are on as they looked very quick and finished off Strong in the Last qtr.. 6 goals hurt.
After the 3 day break it was certainly a good recovery :)

Some sadder news. I did mention we could of seen him in some WPFC games from what I heard on the Freo Show but not to be. He is out for at least the Season.
I was looking forward to seeing Keplar in a WP jumper again as I enjoy watching him play. So if he doesnt come back we wont see him Again in a WP jumper while he is with the AFL due to the alignment. :( Hope he gets over his injury well and is back soon.

From WA TODAY

Fremantle big man Kepler Bradley could be sidelined for up to a year after suffering a suspected anterior cruciate ligament injury in the Dockers thrilling one-point win over Richmond at Patersons Stadium.

Bradley was helped from the ground early in the second quarter when the Dockers trailed the Tigers by 12 points after Dylan Grimes fell across his leg while he was getting a kick away.

If he has done hid knee Cardy, the Dorks will delist him because of his age, they would be looking at a young player to replace him on their list, good luck to Kepler.

Really tough for Keplar, just when he had cemented a spot in the side. Bad luck for a really whole hearted footballer. Hope he makes it back next year

not the greatest game last Thursday..
came down to who could make the least mistakes going into their forward line..
once again our disposal inside our back 50 was terrible, Simo and Howard gave goals from silly passes..
Twomey was the best, set up most of our goals along with Jetta..
footy has gone a bit strange with the press right up the ground, how many times was young Blakely out the back on his own
