Watched both ressies and league games. The ressies were represented with about 50% colts and they lost by about 15 points. The colts lost by a huge margin. In the ressies i liked Max Alexander at full forward, he is an amateur state player. Big boy. Also Samuel Money impressed me. Michael Mascoulis was ok and pulled up with no hammy problems. The league boys won by about eight goals. Trent Manzone in the backline was very good and Rohan Kerr is a class act, he has some pace. Steven Potente is a gutsy player, he dislocated a finger and the boys had problems setting the finger back in. Anton Saylor hurt his shinbone because of a brilliant shepherd against a Souths bloke twice his size. Frank Stockley has leaned up and is a big man, he played well and he will ruck without question this year. Matt Fowler kicked some fantastic goals and Michael Pettigrew has trimmed down and looks good. Johnson / Nelson and Rasmussen all played well. Lewis Harvey for Souths was carried off with a broken tibia, it looked bad with the bone sticking out. Slick did not play as well as Josh Donaldson, Shayne Zanetti and i didnt notice James Embley. Hutchy did his normal gritty stuff and kicked a couple and Josh Mellington worked hard and kicked a couple also. The boys have bulked up and their tackling was outstanding.

Agree with your league wrap there Winger. I have seen 6 matches now 3 last week and 3 this week and of all the sides West Perth tonite looked the most organised side on and off the field. You seem to have a good even spread of Big size, medium size and small players in a number of roles. We at Swans were very good today also v Perth, EF and Subi had a tight tussle and will both be hard to beat on their day and Claremont need no mention. But i was most impressed with your lot tonite. It is very early ofcourse but at least it gives WP fans some confidence
Beneath the Southern cross i stand, on Bassendean Oval, can in hand, Swan Districts, you Farkin Beauty!

I heard that there were quite a few alteration to several players positions compared to the past 2/3 seasons- who were they and how did they perform?

My understanding is a much better performance is required by the coach this season compared to last season in particular in the pressure applied by the "forwards" especially on turnovers and kick outs - how did this roll out?

From what i saw there were no alterations of any significance, Bill got stuck into Joe Morrow for dropping an easy mark that caused a turnover and Souths scored a goal. I think Bill worked the boys well, he threw blokes around and bollocked when he had to bollock. If you want to talk about pressure applied by the forwards then Nic Rodda applied a bit of pressure and he kicked a couple, this bloke is good. Kick outs depended on the wind, both teams kicked long, simple. New rule with the broken line on the boundry was a pain for the resting players. The new conditioning coach has some different methods. A different West Perth this year i would say.

Had a goose at his myself although half way through the first quarter when i got there.
Falcons look well organised and well drilled with many more options than last year.SF in for a long year i suspect. they may well be wondering where JD is?

Why not make a comment on the game - not just a reference to the person making an observation?

Make for a more interesting line of conversation and doesnt lead us into that 'mud hole' that Footy Goss ended up becoming....
