Hi terry

We refrain from reading this site but do appreciate cardys facts and run down on the game from the true supporter that he obviously is.

As a parent and I know you are one it is hard to be less than biased regarding your own. And on some occasions your posts in re to Aaron are fair and as you have said yours.

However, we would appreciate it that you do not pretend to know how aaron thinks or what sort of a person he is in the hope of discrediting him on what is a forum where you do not use your name and with the pack mentality of the group that happily stands up the back each week to critique on there big day out at the footy.

The facts - first of all Aaron was asked to do a column after winning the sandover. He is given a topic each week to write about his feelings. Not the clubs, not other players - his feelings on the game ahead, the game past, what's going on in his life and of course the afl dream. There is no other direction given from Perth now. Remembering Az is not a journo student - hey he was never even particularly good at English. And the afl is a dream - he is 22 - I am sure your son has dreams for the future. He does not bemoan or sook. He has a brother with autism - he has learnt the hard way as have both our sons what most matters in life and he is 100 percent loyal to west Perth, bill and his team mates and none of them including our fabulous annialator is 100 percent consistent every week. The are after all semi professional.

We enjoy your humour at the games you do keep people entertained - but please you know where we sit we are happy to fill you in on the facts and let's face it you really don't know all there is to know about what goes on in the inner sanctum.

Bound to see you at Reiwa sooner or later - you must come by reception next time.

Well gee I am a member of the public. The question was asked. I answered it. And the player in question couldn't give a rats shit what you think. And hey if you read the post properly it's the old lady not the old man. Moving on over it.

I would say good on Aaron Black for expressing himself. I think it takes some guts & character to be truly honest about your views in the public eye. And many people enjoy knowing how footballers feel about situations like Aaron's, and it's not very often we actually hear from a WAFL player like this.

There was once a footballer in probably a similar situation as Aaron is today. His name was Matt Priddis. How great would it have been to know back then how Priddis was feeling, and aligning it with where he is today. Because it would be a fascinating read, especially now after his achievements and Brownlow Medal. No doubt Aaron Blacks passion is a burning one like Matt Priddis's was.

People can dissect an article and twist it to suit their view. Or they can understand and appreciate the fact a young man is working his backside off to reach a level none of us could ever imagine. I say thanks to young Black for giving us an insight into how he feels, which is something none of us would generally even think about. We go to the footy, see a players name in the budget, and watch them exposed every Saturday for us to pull apart at will. And we don't really think much else of them. We neglect the fact they have any thoughts because we don't pay at the gate to care. But on the rare occasion they do, I say good on them & thanks.

Maybe now I will take more of an interest in how this boy goes. And hopefully he gets his chance. Good luck Aaron and cheers for showing your human side, with all the edges.

I'd sooner his article promotes the WAFL and not an unrequited desire to play AFL....after all he's in our system not theirs.

Funny, a Jockey riding at Port Hedland or Carnarvon on a Saturday, is highly likely wishing he could be riding at Belmont, and working hard to improve so City trainers will notice and give him some rides in town. Bit similar to Blackie here, his career , his opinion, his interview.

agreed ...but a jockey in Hedland doesn't have a weekly column on Perth Now to promote the racing scene in Hedland. Black has been given an opportunity to write a column because he is an elite WAFL player and a Sandover medallist not because he's aspiring to be somewhere else.
