The WAFC is looking at buying out part of Channel Nines sponsorship of West Perth. This is because Channel Seven has said they will not televise any West Perth games including the Grand Final. Channel Seven spokesman said, we will not allow Channel Nine and West Perth to ambush its broadcasting rights. Apparently some WAFL clubs have run out of patience with West Perth over its stance, the clubs have not been named, would they knock back 650 grand over six years, I think not.

I totally agree with your comments Growler. The club has to stand up to Channel Seven because I believe the majority of the members support the Channel Nine sponsorship. There is a lot of disdain against Channel Seven around the traps and its all there own making. I do feel for Baz and Dennis, I know they have tried very hard organizing meetings with gold members and the committee to try and sort this mess out, I don't think they have dropped the West Perth football club even though it may look like it.

WAFC playing games again... their Bosses chn petty 7 are making the rules.
Lets not forget the WAFC or the WAFL is paying them a Million dollars to show the game where in any other sport the TV station pays to get the broadcast rights B)

WPFC is a grassroots G7 club and like the other clubs in the same boat struggle to make ends meet and survive. the $100,000 from CHANNEL 9 help us to stay in he Black.
Our club has many special days that help as well.. to make money. The 2 AFL clubs support EP and Peel right down to paying for support staff , coach etc etc. Where EP actually made a profit last year. The first time for many years.
Channel 7 is now talking of a night GF which will cost the WAFL clubs involved up to $50,000 in lost revenue. The WAFC is not against this proposal and have once again shown they are not interested in the Welfare of the G7 clubs.
Lets also remember all the money paid to CHN we dont give a fark about the WAFL 7 got was from the other major sponsers Macca's etc. This money should of gone back into the WAFL development funds etc. A big loss for WAFL clubs and their Junior sides where a couple are going to cease to exist and a couple already have due to financial problems.

I like many other WPFC club supporters are backing our Club to the hilt on this issue.

As for the talk of the other WAFL clubs getting pissed off with WP I doubt this is entirely true.
I am concerned though that 6 WAFL clubs supported the compensation to EPFC who can now get a Delisted AFL player etc to make up for the loss of Kietel. I have covered this in another topic... It is absurb that they be comphensated for us getting a 1 POINT player with very little league experience and WHO WAS NOT UNDER CONTRACT - EG A FREE AGENT!
Yet EPFC can get as 10 point player to replace him. I cannot get my head around this.

I realise I might be a bit paranoid but I suspect WPFC are not very popular with the WAFC because our actions on and off the field that is making it hard for them to CONTROL and Dictate to the WAFL clubs at will... I suspect this is happening at a couple of other clubs though where the clubs are being submissive and bending over to please the WAFC because of pressure from THIS INCOMPETANT BODY.

I suggest WPFC stand by their guns and just play the WAFL season out and if they are lucky enough to get into a GF just play for the FLAG like the old days and of the WAFL when it was a great competition.

Seeya at the footy Steve.... GO CARDIES.

100% support West Perth's stance on this matter. If the alignment was dropped one can bet Ch7 will drop WAFL footy and sponsorship of EP in the blink of an eye.

I am by no means a fan of the West Perth FC. Prior to the Eagles, West Perth was the club I disliked the most. Notwithstanding the above under no circumstances should West Perth even consider dropping the Channel 9 sponsorship. This problem is of the WAFC making and they should be the ones who need to provide the solution. It was their incompetence which has caused this problem.

In fact with respect to the commercial arrangement between West Perth and Channel 9 I would urge the two parties to negotiate an extension of the contract and to announce same sooner rather than later.

Heres the link... Tells the full story

au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/sport/a/287629...l-telecasts-at-risk/

I just cant see how wearing our CHN 9 sponsership on our jumper will jeopardize CHannel (And its Free) 7's channels viewing audience in any way. :(
Channel 7 are paranoid if they think people will Say
"HEY LOOK WPFC HAVE CHN 9 AS SPONSERS LETS WATCH CHANNEL 9 NOT 7"

Fark how petty and childish is that buy a major TV station. Pull your heads in CHN 7 you are actually doing yourself more damage by carrying on like this and giving yourself a bad name. If nothing was said in the beginning no one would of really cared and it would of gone unnoticed. By drawing attention to the issue you are showing what a bunch of scumbags you are.. People have noticed that.

Gee does that mean all WPFC members dont watch 7... No we watch what we want to watch on whatever channel we choose irregardless of the number broadcasting it ;)

Chn 7 get a life grow up and move on. Bottom line the WAFL football has been going 150 years you havent... We survived very well thankyou before TV came along and had bigger crowds. Chn 7 is not bigger that the WAFL and cannot dictate what we do in OUR COMPETITION.

Maybe WPFC should make EP take off there channel 7 Logo on their jumpers when they play at Joondalup as it is CONFLICTING WITH OUR SPONSER.. A bit of black tape should do the job :P

Broadcast deal has been secured with major partner McDonald’s extending its sponsorship into 2016.The fast food giant has signed on as the league’s naming rights partner for next season after initially committing to a one-year deal. The renewed backing will help bankroll the broadcast of matches on free-to-air television for at least another season, ending any uncertainty over the security of the $1 million-a-year telecast deal.Channel 7 has stuck by its decision not to telecast West Perth matches this year, with the club unwilling to drop the logo of its major sponsor, Channel 9, from team jumpers. The WAFC is considering finding an estimated $30,000 to compensate West Perth for dropping the rival broadcaster’s logo during finals, potentially at the expense of other clubs.

An offer has been made to the WAFC that West Perth advertise a top rating channel nine program on their jumpers rather than the Channel Nine News, this has been rejected by the WAFC. So, who is the stumbling block, the WAFC or Channel Seven. From what I can gather the WAFC is the problem.

It appears the WAFC is now run by Channel 7... it shows how incompetant they are as they are supposed to be the controlling body of the WAFL/2 AFL TEAMS but Channel 7 is laying down the rules even though the WAFC paid them a million out of Major sponser funds to broadcast the games.
No game today I notice..

A lot of junior development has been wasted by the Sponser funds being given to CHN 7. What a pack of arseholes they have turned out to be. It will come back to bite Chn 7 in the arse. What goes around comes around. :(
