yeah mate...like a wart do you happen to recall even earlier that East Freo wanted to move on from being Old Easts and threw up the Flyers as their nickname. It only lasted a short time because the members went ballistic but it was right up there with Westar Rules as the worst name ever...not long afterwards they settled on the Sharks

Hate to admit it but WP are doing good things up there. At some stage they need to seriously consider the Joondy name..maybe it will be more accepted in 20 years.

Was WP named something different in the late 1880/90s ?

WE HAVE now well passed the halfway point of the season and it is proving to be quite a challenge. I don’t subscribe to the 'premiership hangover' theory. That is easy to say from the outside but I know the coaches and players pushed each other hard in the pre-season to ensure there was no drop off in fitness or intensity. Everyone has remained strongly committed and focused this season, it’s just we have not won the close games (Peel being the exception) this year.

Brett is right about losing the 3 hard men in Mellington, Salacic and Hutchings, these 3 guys gave us the edge last season and losing them is the reason we are not going to play Finals in 2014.

The only bloke that talks any sense and supplies candid info in the WAFL is Raponi. Would like to see this sort of stff from other clubs. Does not sugar coat but does talk it up either.

Interesting to see in The West this morning about Brian Atkinson resigning all his WAFC commission posts over the alignment issue. A passionate WAFL man whom i have great respect for. I don't think it will do any good because it has been proven that the commission don't give a damm about the WAFL but at least he has stood by his beliefs. Maybe we need a few more at the top level to do the same before notice is taken. Any thoughts?
