Not our best game by a long shot but Perth were pretty good and I reckon if they can maintain that effort they will finish 4th-5th. We need to bounce back v $ubi or we are in early trouble with SF,CL & Peel to follow.

Vital game this Whinnen and we need to show a vast improvement from last week.If you remember we won our first two last season and were reasonable favourites to win the third against Subi same round last year.It ended up being the start of losing ten in a row. The Swans game showed if we are switched on we can win but the big bodied Subi forwards worry me and could be a major factor.Perth also showed us up in the midfield and their sustained running caused us problems.I don’t think we are a speedy set of midfielders (Hinder being the exception). The other factor that needs to be remembered is that night games usually don’t have high scores kicked.Subi scored a few the week before against WCE but it was the WCE ! Interestingly last week was the start of 4 consecutive night games for us so we need to adapt to those conditions asap or it could get ugly.Checked the fixtures it made for interesting reading regarding playing times. If we assume most clubs would prefer a regular 2.30 time slot the breakdown per club is: EF,SD 14 times,Cl,P,EP 12 times,SU,Peel 11 times,SF 9,WCE 7,WP 6.I am not against the WAFC trying things to promote people coming to WAFL games and night football has been a prominent part of the SA league for a while with some success and because we are one of the few grounds with acceptable lighting we have to accept that we will be the guinea pigs for the trial.Just would have been nice to get some equality in the’ideal time slot’ allocations.Don’t know how it will affect attendances and bar takings as well but I don’t think those areas will be advantaged by this fixturing.
