Dons had 7 players out of contract at end of this season. Hooker, Hocking, Colyer & Myers have accepted a one year deal. Dempsey, Pears & Stanton stil to consider..

Must be a tough decision for these players out of contract. Would other clubs be prepared to take risks with these suspended players after a year out of footy in the draft. Common sense for the players to sign a one year contract with the club for employment security in the short term.

Think Pears wants to be a fireman, Dempsey & Stanton are slowing down. Same as Cooney. What we need is a class ruckman. Bellchambers isn't aggressive enough. Need to look at GWS or Suns for young talent. Also need just one more win. Just around the corner hopefully.

Damned if they do and damned if they don't situation for the club if they choose not to offer contracts to these suspended players. Consequences the club has to live with after shitting in their own nest, whether intentionally or unintentionally once Robinson & Dank were employed. Maybe not in the best short term interests to offer contracts to some of these ageing guys but would be completely against the club's mantra through this whole saga if they were to abandon players after their suspensions are completed without mutual consent from the player.

DW I would perhaps suggest that Essendon are probably more motivated in trying to reduce the possibility that any of their players sue the club. The players' ability to sue might be diminished somewhat by the players' decisions to sign an extension to their contracts.

Agree 42, will be very interesting if they don't extend a contract to any of the suspended players. Litigation is coming regardless but won't be a good look if the club abandons the player. Will be interested to see Worsfold's influence with regards to some of these decisions.

Heppell has announced that he will honour his five year contract. This is good as he is a future captain.

Surprised at that one. He didn't sound too keen on what the club did to him and the other boys. Wonder what they paid him up front and in the paper bag to stay? Please don't give me the "loyalty" crap.
