Apparently Perth played quite well except for the third quarter. Just hope no reports come from the half time scrap which apparently involved a lot of players from both sides. Perth's inaccuracy basically cost them the match. Apparently Perth had 54 sorties inside 50. Given they had 19 scoring shots, that means 35 of them were not. Their percentage only dropped by approx half a percent after today's game which is not really an issue. A big game coming up next week and then the final 3 matches for Perth would all be winnable games one would think..

Hugely disappointing result. We absolutely dominated the first half but if you don’t take your chances you let the wolf in the door and once he gets a sniff he gets excited. We invited Claremont back into the game and they took it gleefully. Until we learn to be more efficient with our forward entries and take our chances we can expect more disappointing results like this. Claremont aren’t that good IMHO.

I’d roll the dice and play big DBW . He’s bulked up and I think can handle the next level and there’s a couple of players not delivering the goods in our forward line and blokes who are performing consistently in the ressies such as Matt Thompson and Lennon Marlin deserve their chances.

No Claremont aren’t that good, we’re nowhere near Subi. I don’t get all this talk about we’re not as good as people say, who’s saying we’re so good? Not us. We’re just trying to finish as high as the ladder as we can and try and meet Subi in a grand final where they could perhaps get a few injuries and be gettable on a foreign ground (Optus).
We’re sitting very closely alongside South and Perth at the moment.

TOO,

I think its a general consensus that Claremont's list is as good as $ubi's. I am dumbfounded that Claremont drop some games that they do tbh, I said at season start that it will be a $ubi v CL GF and I stand by that.

PFC, on my calcs, have scored 8.9 to 25.16 in the third quarters over last 6 games. Fix that and you fix the problems. Not sure it is really about personnel, we clearly have an ultra competitive team ( except when compared to subi of course), the issue is them playing the third q like they play the other ones.

The last 2 games Eyresy has been dominated in the 3rd quarters and Earl thru Giblett in the ruck against Souths and thru Zareth Roe in the middle midway through the last qtr. Both moves were effective but yesterday a bit late. I'd be giving Dakota Baldwin-Wright a go. He's got to be around the old 6' 7 mark. I reckon Eyresy is around 6'3.

I’m not saying we have a perfect squad, sorry didn’t mean that, all I’m saying is that we are losing games above the shoulders at the moment.

Yes, third quarter fadeouts have cost us dearly but that is not the problem IMO.
Eyres fights above his weight and height limits. He gives his all, that we cannot question. But we do need more than that.
We must find a player who can dominate the hitouts and have a huge impact around the ground. Not easy to find one but we must keep up the search.
Then we need a fast leading forward target who gives multiple efforts. If one lead doesn't work make a second or third effort.
Someone mentioned Tom Lee and yes I agree someone of that ilk.
And finally we need an imposing big forward who is a different target and who can be mobile enough yet who can grab the big mark and kick goals.
A Brett Spinks would be ideal. Don't ask me where we will find him.
A tall order all round but at least we should be looking because we cannot kick big scores and capitalise on good forward entries without them.
