I reckon Swans have provided the blue print. Pay big dollars for guys who don't play, get a few early wins and then fall in a big hole.

Demons Forever - I fully agree with Jacobs. He may get the ball a lot but he is a direct and indirect cause of a lot of turn overs. Latch is the other one that turns it over a lot. He really needs to learn to kick long down the line if no obvious player free.
I do not agree with Sinclair. I think he is very good. But I have missed several games this year.

PD1899 I may be a bit harsh on Sinclair.
I agree with you that he is good player and is consistently among our major ball winners.
But on Saturday he coughed it up a bit and made some bad decisions.
Under extreme pressure in fairness to him.
I agree dropping him is a bit over the top.
Quite a number of our players need to learn how to more composed under pressure.
They don't appear to be able to buy space and time.
But we need to recruit, we have one senior ruckman at the Club and he is injured.
Our Colts ruckman is playing reserves.
We are badly deficient in players and I am sorry but the football department and the board are accountable.
It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It's the size of the fight in the dog.
Winning isn't everything. It's the ONLY THING !!!!!!

Totally agree DF. Earl has been given two more years. Not everyone agrees with that but I do.
There is not another coach in the WAFL that could do any better with the cattle that he has had to work with. The senior squad is badly deficient as it has been for many years. Yes, we have recruited (sort of) year by year but always have not been able to back in good recruits like Young and Bevan with the support they should have had.
Now, if the Board and Football department are really serious about moving forward they will back in Earl with the troops that he will need.
No pussy footing.. go out and get the cattle.
And while they are about it, they can get started on getting all our young talent onto personalised, accountable and fully supervised body strengthening programmes.
As I have said before, don't complete your programme and you wont be playing.
Time to get serious and the time is now. Time to say "Yes. This club is going to be great again."
Anybody home????

Trying to get players to do the extra weight sessions required for WAFL success Smokey, good luck with that. A real problem at EP over a number of years, I think they even used video cameras to keep track at one stage. Subiaco are the leaders in this regard they train like professional athletes and play accordingly.

Interesting to read the constant common theme of Perth needing to go out and get the right cattle...pretty sure when recruited on paper the likes of Graham,Bevan, Davis, Jones, White, Young, Morton x 3 etc all came with decent wraps especially for WAFL footy....Perth certainly have picked up some more than decent cattle....surely?....what other cattle is out there who have CV similar to these guys?

Yes freezin we have done our share of recruiting but those you mention came to the club at different times not altogether. In addition we have failed to properly develop our home grown talent in numbers to support the recruits.
As LB says, Subi have done both very successfully by recruiting well and bringing their young talent up to professional standards.
We do have some talent but they need a lot of work to get them to the same professional levels of the recruits we need to sign.
Overall the cattle that we currently have are not good enough....what do you suggest we do to change all that?

Thats all good and well listing all those names Freeze but most were at the club at different times.
We need to recruit key personnel that we don't have through the grades and if that means going through our list of higher points players to see there worth and move on those players that don't fill our needs so we can recruit players that do.
Maybe for the first time in a long time we have some talented kids to compliment gun recruits.

Pretty sure most folk were calling for Papertalk and his 10 pts to be rubber stamped "return to sender".....sounds like you guys want to recruit 5 or 6 top liners at once?.....wouldnt most clubs like to do that?....never ever gonna happen is it?.....but hear what you are saying about Perth's younger crop looking more likely sorts to be complimented with a few top line recruits.......always a difficult juggling act trying to get it right I guess..

.then again .......I think SD have done it well this year getting a couple of local boys back from the AFL in Ellard, Bennell and Gault....plus recruits in Crowley and Ellis.....thats 5 guys ready to go.....touch wood Perth may get Johnson, Mzungu, Tunbridge and McInnes back next year plus add a few recruits......bit of a lottery timing wise getting ex players back from the AFL.....first they need to be delisted , then they need to be enticed back and then hopefully you have a squad to maximise their return......from an EF perspective they need to go hard at the likes of ex juniors in Swallow, Jansen, H Marsh, Paparone, Ibbottson, Griffen et al IF they were to be delisted......if being the key word.....
