Is young Zac available for Perth's colts finals campaign this year? Or will Perth have to do a Balic or Logue and play a bit of walk on walk off stuff to get qualified?....Be great if the kid could play for Perth's youngsters in September.

He would need to play the remaining 5 games with the colts to qualify. Rule 4.1.1 and 4.1.2 of WAFL Rules and Regs apply.

Dazz it is an absolute farcical rule as Fish like Logue played 5 games for the WA 18s just recently which should count as a Colts match for Finals qualification but because SD & P are pro active in developing their promising youngsters by playing them up in the Seniors they get crucified unlike certain other clubs!

Pretty well thought as much thanks mate....totally agree with BH regarding it being farcial that those U/18 state games dont count towards qualification because it is still colts age footy after all......

great to see SD and Perth playing their youngsters....kind a think besides Luke Strnadica, EF doesnt have anyone else league ready TBH....Fisher is a gem that is for sure....would love WBD to draft him....ditto for Logue....well when he actually stays on the ground for more than 30 seconds though ;)

Yeah good point BH and it is perverse that you can be progressing a kids development but effectively be penalised as a club for it.

I should add that I took a literal interpretation of the WAFL regs with regards Zac's qualification and as we all know all too well the WAFC just makes up the rules as they go depending on which AFL master has their hand up the WAFCs arse at the time.

Yeah doesnt help when certain WAFL clubs follow suit though Dazzler.....anyway Fisher is too good for colts footy, what is he gonna achieve dropping back to that level develoment wise.....as BH says, development and progression are the way forward and Perth should be commended for not taking the clandestine route .....

Would be nice to win a bloody trophy though. We've got plenty of room for them.

I agree DD, some silver ware would be nice for the cabinets in the museum at Lathlain.
But I do think that as far as the Colts are concerned that can take care of itself.
What I am interested in is giving Colts players an opportunity to show us what they have as part of their transition path to senior football.
They have not had this opportunity in the past because the coach was more interested in the Coach's reputation rather than the PFC development program.
Although having said that I don't think we ever had a program.
Some of those players given an opportunity e.g. Narkle etc will have already have qualified for the finals. And they deserve the opportunity.
Zac Fisher is a different kettle of fish.
I don't think Zac's development would be best served by sending him back to the Colts.
It appears to me that he will be drafted.
He needs to be playing at the highest level.
It's not the draftees I'm interested in.
I am more interested in developing our players for the longer term.
Turning the good Colts players (that don't get drafted) into League players instead of turning them away only to see them waste their talents in Amateurs.
We won't succeed with all players but our hit ratio in the past has been appalling.
Just MHO.

Get good use out of him while you can, I spoke to his mother last week and she said that he has spoken to several eastern states clubs and him and his family just had an interview with Freo.

As much as I'd love to have him at Freo, not with our first round pick thanks. That would rule us out. WC could do with his pace in that pedestrian midfield of theirs. He reminds me of a young Daisy Thomas.
