Great even performance we were clearly the better side in general play but poor goal kicking let Claremont off the hook. Gradually Claremont grew in confidence in the second half but we've got 22 goers who are playing for each other and that was the difference.

Also did it tough again with another soldier down and out of the game early. Jarred Bell with a medial ligament by the sounds of it.

Outstanding game from Lennon Marlin I thought. I recall Spalding telling him at qtr time several weeks ago we are going to back you in for the rest of the season. Snake obviously rates him and the young man is growing in confidence as are a lot of his team mates.

The next test is to test ourselves against better quality opposition. That will be Subi next week.

Thought we were going to throw it away with the goal kicking.
Should have been over at half time.
Good to see them hang tough and win.
These sorts of things tend to foster the self belief.
Once the self belief sets in the goal kicking may come.
Some one get hold of Stackie please.
An experienced player should be 5.2 rather than 2.5.
Call in Coups for frigg sake.
Although some of those may have been under pressure.

Spencer White will be better for the hit out. Yep another great effort considering Bell going down - as a spectator you often don't know these things and I definitely thought we ran out of steam and I was wondering why.

Best players reported in the WAFL app - some other observations -

I thought Stevenson was pretty good for the first time I can remember him.

I thought Wolf was great again and am surprised to see him named in both the league and ressies teams each week.

It must have been that Leggett replaced Dean White's roll.

Hope a couple of the young players learn to take the extra step for the mark instead of waiting - making it a contest - and then loosing possession.

Jones really taking it to another level and I thought JJ was very good again - clutch goal in the last from 50.

I didn't expect to win before the game and certainly not in the last 10 minutes so quite happy with the result.

A shame East Perth won I would be dreaming of a top 5 spot if it wasn't for them

I think Peel and East Freo could be in trouble of slipping out.

Will 9 games make it? Probably not. Even if it did, will Perth win 4 of their last 7? History says no!
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

The defining game for Perth is next week against Subiaco at Lathlain. If you can win that you are in the race. Swans matched them for a lot of the game today and Perth are better than Swans. They need to believe that they can do it.

Great Win by the Demons today...

Some interesting facts for this one in my game review. Only done this game so far

waflfootyfacts.net/gamestats.php?GameID=9252

Includes just the 4th time Perth have won despite losing three quarters and scoring less goals than the opposition. Last time: vs West Perth in Round 20 1964

The game should of been done and dusted by half time,as often happens leaving the door open nearly always comes back to bite you.

Luckily we hung on for the victory I thought Jones and Trops were immense , Brooke's last quarter was telling took some crucial marks and he's starting to look like he belongs at league level.

Stevenson with 21 hit outs had a good game and his last quarter was very good.

Yes I forgot about that mark by Brookes in the last very good. Also liked Latch and Irons today. Has Stevenson come from another WAFL club or what. I can't remember him before

PN I think confidence and self belief has a lot to do with it.
We have panicked in the past and the ball goes on the boot out of fear.
With confidence and self belief comes poise, this is what we need.
I made a comment last week about our disposal in general play.
Do you think this is improving like I do?

Who comes in for Bell next week.

Reid Polak - might need another couple of weeks off his big injury
Marchell Jones - thought he was pretty good early in the season

both playing as back men the last couple of weeks i think

Callum Walley - kicked 6 in the ressies today
Taran Etto - was going ok prior to being dropped

both playing as forwards the last couple of weeks

Stats would indicate Eyers injures again today

I think we still make some basic mistakes, but some of our kicks into the forward line were pretty good today we tend to bomb it in alot someone like a Callum Collard would of been very handy today crumbing the loose ball.
