Jack was also liked at Swans where he coached between 1972 and 1975. Condolences to his family, and many, many young footballers in red and black and black and white owe Jack a huge gratitude.

I always thought Swans treated him pretty harshly after the 1975 finals. He deserved at least one more year after taking them to finals 2 years in a row. He had an outstanding record as coach of Perth Colts.
Condolences are extended to the Ensor family.

It was just before my time on earth SF4L but I always remember my dad commenting many years ago that replacing Ensor for Magee was a monumental stuff up by the club, lucky we got Toddy after moving Magee on pretty quick smart.
Condolences to Jacks family.

Yes, Jack Ensor was a great contributor to football in WA and not just with Perth.
Under his guidance Perth dominated Colts football in the early 60s and then as Assistant Coach to Mal Atwell he played a big part in the Club's dominance in the mid to late 60s at league level.
He was a great teacher and related so well to young players. His impact on the game in WA is well documented and is the stuff that makes legends.

He rebuilt the Swans team from a basket case in the late 60's early 70's to a genuine premiership threat in 1975. West Perth were far too good for everyone that year and I am eternally grateful that the Doggies knocked us off in the preliminary final because we would have been walloped in the GF like they were.
He seemed like a real gentleman and at the time I thought he deserved to be reappointed for at least another year. Instead we went backwards under Magee, surely the worst coach in the clubs history until Wilson came along.
RIP Jack Ensor.

An extraordinary gentleman, and yes, badly treated at Swans at the end of 1975. We forget also that he was one of the few successful senior coaches never to have played league football.
