Team Selection

B J Bell A Zucconi D Johnston
HB B Edmonds B Latch B Wolfenden
C M Taylor A Tropiano J Jacobs
HF T Etto L Dennis L Wilkins
FF K Cary S White B Stack
F A Graham C Leggett C Jones
Int. C Byrne, Z Fisher, K Fleay, M Jones, L Mckenna, M Sinclair, C Walley,
In L Wilkins, M Taylor, K Fleay, B Wolfenden, C Byrne, M Jones,
Out C Eyres, T Gianatti, D White

All players listed in bold are playing in the twos. Good to see Brad Keast back at the club, he's playing in the two's.

You would think Johnston would play to either pinch hit in the ruck or help cover Maister and Cameron and Andrews when he's playing forward.

Jones to play as the second tall forward. Only 190 cm but for a young player I like the way he goes about it.

Corey Byrne and Laine Wilkins were very promising in the preseason for me so either would be a 50/50 chance of playing.

Up The Demons :)

Claremont

B J Beeck B Franz M Davies
HB O Tate A Hamp D Ross

HF J Bradshaw H Busher I Richardson
FF Z Langdon B Maister M Andrews
F D Cameron J Murphy R Lim
Int. H Breakey, J Speed, R Neates, M Palfrey, B Rogers, H Mccracken, K Yu,
In Z Langdon, H Mccracken, J Speed

Who's captain this week?

Wasn't sure about Lachlan Dennis's game #40 last week can someone remind me?

Hope Trop, Zucconi and Clint Jones are not hampered this week. Like I said I was very surprised to hear that Clont Jones got 46 disposals.

Shame about Whiteys ankles. We haven't had much luck with our Butcher medalists. Hodge now White - White was hampered last year no doubt and already this year. Trop last week too.

We have to take the umpire out of this and play disciplined footy.

Club would like to see 2500 there.
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

Dennis has looked ok in the preseason games. Should have probably kicked two goals last week.

Don't think you will get 2500 there. That's being optimistic. Claremont don't travel. If we crack 2000 we will be going extremely well.

As for who will be captain. We don't have a vice captain so it will be someone from the leadership group. Michael Sinclair captained against South in the scratchie so he might be in contention.

Mr AFL. We are at the crossroads. We need to play smart footy and make smart decisions off-field as well.
Whitey will likely be out for some time so we need a strong interim captain to bind this team together.
We have the right man for the job IMHO...Clint Jones.

Good luck to Aaron Zucconi as he plays his 100th game for the club. Great to see him back.

I'm.sure Jonesy is a leader on the field but he doesn't have an official title. The leadership group consists of Captain Dene White, Aidan Tropiano, Liam McKenna, Brent Latch, Michael Sinclair, Jared Bell, Jarrod Irons and Julian Jacobs.

He may have no title and he may not officially be in the leadership group having just joined the club but who would you pick ahead of him bearing in mind how critical the appointment will be.
His leadership last week was on display for all to see. He led by example, carried an injury for most of the game and had 46 disposals. He was recruited for his leadership and for his example to a young squad as much as for his playing ability.
For me it is all elementary.

I agree with what you are saying and if it is Jones they go with while Whitey is absent that's fine with me.

What I'm saying is that he does not necessarily need to have the title of captain to do the things you mention above.

This is our season right here on Saturday, lose this one and we are in for our usual season of struggling and finishing down the bottom.

I know its early days but the few games after this one dont get any easier.

We will have to use Angus Graham a fair bit at FF when not on the ball (i dont know whether this tactic was used a great deal last week?).

Make our home deck ours and dont give the opposition an easy way to 4 points, this is our dung heap and its about time we owned it!

The jury is out as far as im concerned on just how good our talent is outside of our recruits, ive been of the opinion for a number of years now and it is only my opinion that we over-rate many of our players abilities.

Anyway lets hope some wins come the Dees way,im on holiday and wont be back until round 8.
