So, this is how I see us 4 weeks or so from the first scratch-match.

Best 22:

FB: J.Irons D.Johnston J.Bell
HB: T.Etto B.Latch C.Leggett
C: L.McKenna Clint Jones B.Wolfenden
HF: K.Cary S.White M.Sinclair
FF: B.Stack Marshall Jones C.Collard

Ruck: A.Graham A.Tropiano D.White
Res/Emerg: C.Eyres, C. Walley, J.Jacobs, R.Polak.

Young Players (less than 3 yrs out of colts) with league potential: S.McGillivray, H.Tanner, Sam Garstone, G.Keith, Matt Taylor, Jack Giles, Chapman Jones, L.Marlin, C.Bryne, Mitch Henderson, Brent Edmonds, S.Doncon, M.Browne, F.Millar, D.O'Brien, J.Butler, J.Hooper, K.Chester, D.Biggs.
\
Reserves Players: T.Giannati, R.Brookes, K.Fleay, R.Gray, S.Mills, L.Dennis, B.Borrett, T.Stevenson, J.Payne, Dan Arangio, A.Boyes, K.Hug, K.Lawrence.

*L.Wilkins, B.Keast, C.Papertalk (not sure whether these guys are going to play for us or not, if they do I'm not sure any of them can figure in our best 22).

Some question marks over our best 22: reported that Collard might have walked. Need one more tall backman. Need a full forward. Need another ruck. Midfield is our strength. Forward line has one or two question marks (how good is Spencer White? Will Stacky be on or off? How long for Cary to adapt? Jones is young, too young to play FF so who plays there? If Collard isn't playing, can Walley fill the small forward role?) It would be nice to have Graham down the forward line for some gametime (but then who rucks? Can Eyres stand up?) Our back line is OK, but god help us if either Johnston or Latch go down with injury. Depth is a worry. I didn't have to think too hard about our best 22.

I like our young players with league potential. Many on my list have already had 1 or 2 years exposure to league football. They need to kick on. Thinking of Doncon, Tanner (has he left?), Edmonds, Browne, and perhaps Chapman Jones. This is where our depth has to come from - these guys pushing up. The problem here is that there is too many utilities among them, not enough potential KPP.

Our reserves players should be divided into two groups. 1.Those who could fill a league role: Mills, Dennis (rated by the coach), Stevenson, Gianatti. The rest have struggled a bit to establish themselves as league players. They need to push on this season.

PD I'd have Jacobs at half back and Etto in Collards place since he's not even on the clubs list. From all reports Jacobs is even fitter than he was previously. Etto and Cary from information so far are midfielders who can kick goals so that adds flexibility for the Duke. McKenna is an inside mid so he rotates through the guts probably with Tropiano or Clint Jones who will add much needed grunt, class, experience and depth to our midfield.

DD Collard is still on both PFC list and the WAFL list.
It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It's the size of the fight in the dog.

Etto is a great left foot kick from all reports, and I've heard that the coaching staff hope to turn him into one of those half-back quarterbacks. I think if Collard can't play that Walley can develop. Had a reasonable first season and can kick goals. Agree about Cary, that's why I had him at half-forward. I like the idea of developing Sinclair into a half-forward that can run through the midfield. I hope Bell and Leggett can add something to their game by becoming options in the midfield too. Jacobs is versatile and fit by all reports so he's another option either down back or in the center.

Looking at ur list & the side on the 1st post, anything less than a top 5 finish would be an epic fail...

try not to be April / May premiers as a starting point...

Why??
That side/list is not that great imo.
Our backline for mine is pretty weak.
We only have 1 good ruckman, recruited forwards that havent made a name for themselves in the comps we recruited them from.
Lots of ???? in the team.

Subi will finish top 2,East Perth and Peel will finish somewhere in the top 5.
That leaves 2 spots for the rest and imo West Perth and Swans will take the other 2 spots in the 5.

To many unknowns in the Perth team imo and if we get to 5th and play finals i for one would be surprised and if we finished higher than 5th...well i'd be shocked, pleasantly shocked but shocked.

I see that Laine Wilkins is now on the Perth website as a league player. Two other addtions: Shaun Crane, who played last year at South Bunbury, and is 25 (he must be serious since he'd get more money playing in the country wouldn't he?); and Matt Thompson from Boyup Brook, who is 22. Does anyone know anything about these guys?

56 players on the list at the minute.
