Thanks for finding that 30plus. Looks to me like our premises are an extension of the current grandstand and function centre (which I believe will be kept), so the new premises will be on the wing and the Eagles premises will be behind the goals. All makes sense.

It looks to me like the ground will be about 45 degrees further around to the right. They should be selling this to prospective new coaches. Looks pretty exciting to me.

And potential recruits too!! Thanks very much for that 30+.

Still reckon we should change the current ground the dimensions of the new oval straight away so we get used to it whilst we are struggling.

I remember Ross Lyon commenting on his first visit to Lathlain saying "is this the biggest oval in Australia". I don't have the current measurements of Lathlain but a smaller ground might be more conducive to our fitness levels.

Does anyone know if PFC still maintains naming rights to the oval. The sponsorship opportunity would be significantly more attractive than the Eftel and Brownes deals

Whilst we are in this period of change how about some of our past greats be recognised, ala Peel have the Hayden Ballantyne wing.

We should name a wing, the new grandstand, hell even the Can Bar !! The Greg Brehaut Wing? Cables Corner, Pats Pocket, not sure who would get the honour of the Grandstand

I wonder if the 50 year old Purvisonic sound speakers and the new state of the art scoreboard will survive the transition. Lathlain just wont be the same without the crap sound system

All that sounds fine WB. As long as Perth don't get taken over. Have already lost 2 clubs and now they're gone. :(
No-one should be interested in losing another!!!

WA Guy agree with you 100 per cent -- I wish to save all nine or at least the 7 that are left. Unless the PFC have a sneaky little strategy that we are unaware of, walking into the arms of the WCE is not the way to defend Perth's traditions.

Laithlan Park is a proper West Australian ground: big. It is unique and should be kept for that simple reason.

A couple of questions of you guys and girls: If they are building a second oval, why do both have to be the same size as that cricket ground in Melbourne, especially as Perth are supposed to remain a separate club to the WCE?

More broadly, have people at the two VFL clubs in this state forgotten the concept of 'home advantage' in sport? You make those three grounds -- two at Laithlan and the other one at wherever Barnett is building his master piece -- the same size as the MCG -- and your helping the Victorians a lot.

Wormburner -- Thought I would reply to your question about naming rights: short answer is NO; you sold your rights for a financial sum; and, a lot of trouble in the future one suspects.

The 2 ovals will be different. Oval 1 will be the size and shape of the new stadium here in Perth. Oval 2 will be the size and shape of the MCG. Look at the photo 30plus put up you can see the 2 ovals are slightly different.

One will be more oval like a WA ground and one will be quite rounded like the MCG.

Considering not all of the "Vic" teams play at the MCG as a home ground how will this benefit the Victorians?

It has come to my mind in recent years our ground is too big for today's modern game especially the game plan the previous coach was obsessed with. I suspect the new stadium oval will be the same dimensions as Subiaco oval. Hopefully it will be narrower than our current oval or shorter or both. I think we will benefit from a smaller than oval.

Talking Footy: it is my understanding the new stadium at Burswood will be more like the MCG? If so, it will favour the Victorians more than Subiaco. It is true that not all the Victorians play at the ground; Footscray, as you know, play at the boutique ground. In an expanded VFL competition -- with most coming from Victoria -- they naturally are more familiar with the MCG than the Eagles.

DD: I think you are quite right about the game style and the last coach in relation to the oval. There is a solution: appoint a more conventional/traditional coach. Naturally, I hope the club benefits.

Perth games will be telecast at least 3 times on 7 / 7 Mate in 2105.
PvSF on 28/3, EFvP 10/5, PvC 14/6.
Probably a better run than we would have got with the ABC!!
