Well deserved. One of the greats of the PFC and the game.

A wonderful honour for the late, great Ern Henfrey a legend of the Perth Football Club.
He went to Victoria and captained Carlton to a premiership in 1947 and captained the Big White V. Returned to Perth as Captain/Coach in 1953, premiership coach in 1955.Left Perth in 1960 due to employment transfer but returned as coach 1962 to 1965.
Many players of the golden years 1966 to 1968 began their careers under Ern.
I recall, at 3 quarter time in a first semi final with Perth heading for certain defeat he threw a handful of mothballs on the floor in front of the players and told them that they had a choice, use the mothballs or play a prelim final game next week. The players responded and got up to win the game.

Quietly spoken and called his players "lads".

He was a great player, man manager, motivator, but above all he was a gentleman.

Ern Henfry played 85 games for Perth and coached 139 games. Played 84 games for Carlton and won fairest and best twice.
