It sounds good but those blokes aren't going to be ready for league football in 2014.

I was commenting on the names Mr AFL put forward.

As we know all the good talls get drafted and then after that you hope the others make it,yet to be seen.
Regardless these young talls need mentors and by that we do not have any tall experienced good KPP's at the club especially Key Forwards and experienced rucks.

"Exciting talent" are easy words to say but how many tall KPP's that dont get drafted have gone and and made it at senior level in the past 10 years or so at our club?
My point being, just because there tall and talented in colts doesnt mean they are lay down misere to play and be successful at wafl league level, you hope like crazy they are but it's no given.

I hear what you are saying 30 plus. In regards to McInnes and Tunbridge etc... those players are losses but because of the alignment there is nothing that can be done. Other clubs are in the same boat as us especially East Fremantle.

Most of the time we are just hoping like crazy some players stay, some players come and some players can take that next step up.

Remember though there was a lot of doom and gloom at this time last year and although we did not play finals which was a major disappointment, we were in the top for four 75% of the season and young players such as Boyle, Leeson, Hunt, Sinclair and Kalajzic showed something.

Trying to fit all your needs into the salary cap and points system is hard. Sometimes you have to prioritise a position over another and hope that someone within the club can make do or possible even shine playing somewhere else. You make do with what you can.

Someone told me that at the AGM on Monday night Daryle Mann got up and spoke about football matters. He was quoted as saying that this club will not break the bank for so called superstars. We will not but boards and administrations of the future in debt because we decided to go after the big guns like Subiaco and Swan Districts. We will recruit within or means and have an emphasis on home grown players coming through our system.

Marty Atkins apparently added to this by saying we think our development system can be greatly improved. Not just at colts level but from the 13's, 14's, 15's etc... and up. I believe he also mentioned that the club had found a sponsor that would allow them some funding for this to happen. This is great news as I have said for a while get the development system RIGHT and you set yourself up in the long run to have the best chance of success.

The more home grown players that you are able to have the better as then this should allow you to go out and get the 7-12 point players such as the Paul Bevan's, Paul Johnson's etc... that are really going to make a difference to your side.

Daryle Mann has pulled that line at the past couple of AGMs - "if players don't want to be here then we don't want them", "we won't break the bank to recruit" and my personal favourite "we won't be recruiting just for recruitings sake".

Bottom line is this club still fails to recruit the type of talent needed to fill the evident gaps in the squad. Chasing Cale Morton is a case in point. We've got plenty of Cale Morton's in this squad already. Outside receivers who get forward of the play and kick cheap goals or who impersonate goal posts for half the game are a dime a dozen.

Yes there was doom and gloom around last season and they definitely surprised a few but do you reckon we can back that up and go further? Every other club will be improving too you know. From my view of it, we appear to have stood still in terms of improving the list at present. The alignment is going to make it even harder with the Peel basket case getting propped up and EP likely to field an AFL quality team each week.

And you simply can't expect kids just out of age competition to make the leap to league and fill key positions. It doesn't happen like that.

I don't expect the kids to come in and dominate the competition but you never know, one or two might pop up and actually show a bit. I think if we sign Morton there is about 12 points left roughly. If we are able to get these points up to about 15 we might be able to get a tall marking forward and a ruckman. And IF (as most things around this time of year are IF's) we can keep Tedesco, Leyendekkers and Ali Smith then I think we will be ok.

Dazzler i bought up that very point re-Cale Morton.
Whilst i have nothing against him and in normal circumstances ie.with a couple of KPP's,quality mids at the club already etc...he would probably be worth taking but to take him at high points and sacrificing a "must need/get player" doesnt make any sense,i would also think he would be on good coin if he signed!!

I have no confidence in Daryl Mann and yes i love the 'recruiting for recruiting sake" remark, like hello Daryl stick to recruiting what we need, essential key personel.

Its sounds like we are in "survival mode" only and seasons like 2013 will be our 'success" story, almost but not quite.

Your last paragraph Dazzler is exactly what i said in my previous post...unfortunately key sentences like that dont get quoted when posters reply, they are glossed over.

Unfortunately as the Wafl dies a slow death in the next couple of years, the PFC will go down as the only club unable to end their premiership drought.

Why is the WAFL going to "die"?
It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It's the size of the fight in the dog.
Winning isn't everything. It's the ONLY THING !!!!!!
I shot the fukin sherriff!!!!
