If we are to go out and get 5-6 quality recruits some of our higher point players might have to go. Bevan is 12 points, Reimers is 11, Sketcher is 10, Risol is 10, Morton is 10 and Kane is 10. You would say two of them would have to make way if we are going to go and get a big fish so to speak.

Im pretty sure that under the new alignment the points system has been reviewed, clubs points have been increased???
Maybe another poster may know more on the points system for 2014 but im pretty sure some adjustment has/will be made.

Zucconi hasnt played much footy in the past 4 years in fact i think he's missed too much top line footy to make a successful return and Billings was an ok defender,Sketcher had more upside to him and was a much better footballer.
Why did Billings pull the pin in the first place??

Rolling out these former players imo would be a backward move.

I have always questioned Nick Kanes value (points wise) and whilst he may be a terrific club man top bloke ok player etc...your 10 point players have to be top shelf and Nick was far from that.
Sketchers gone,Murray went mid year(11 points),Kane goes??
Theres 30 odd points.

I think we have to scour far and wide when recruiting.
Personally i think top line recruits come from comps equal to or greater than the wafl, very few mature recruits (if any) come from country and Sunday arvo comps.

On Nick Kane hasn't he been at the club long enough now that his points value drops from 10 to 5. if this is so he would be good to keep, i would of thought.

Dont know what length of service they have to give but if he remains on 10 in 2014 he definately has to be looked at.
5 points yeah i suppose the club would have to look around the market place to see what 5 points gets you and work it out from there but he more than likely would be worth hanging onto for 5 points.

Kane has played 50 games for the Demons now and as has been said above I am not sure whether or not his points value changes. Didn't Ross Young's change from 10 to 5 in his last year at the club???????

30 plus don't forgot that Murray was replaced by Morton in the side so it's actually only 20 points :)

"Players registered under the father/son, grandfather/grandson or the brother/brother rule will be regarded as locally produced players with respect to their points allocation."

Could someone please explain how this would work in regards to Mitch Morton?

Also have found this in regards to people's questions on 10 point players and a reduction in points.

2.3 POINTS DEDUCTIONS FOR PLAYER SERVICE
2.3.1 Players who transfer into a WAFL Club do so with a point value prescribed in 2.1.4 above. However in the season after the player plays his 100th League game at the club his point value to that WAFL Club will be halved. His point value to the WAFL Club will reduce by one point for each successive season to a minimum of 2 points.
2.3.2 The point value of players who have had points deducted for service, as in 2.3.1 above, who wish to transfer to another WAFL Club will transfer at 2 points above their point value to their currently registered club had they not transferred.
2.3.3 The point value of local players who wish to transfer are as prescribed in 2.1.4 above but for players who provide above 100 League games of service to a club their transfer points value decrease to 7 points in the year after reaching 100 games and then continue to decrease by 1 point for each successive season of service to that club to a minimum of 4 points.
2.3.4 Interstate AFL listed players who are allocated to a WAFL Club for 5 seasons AND who play a minimum of 20 games (League or reserves grade) may, upon AFL delisting, remain at that club as a 5 point player. His value to any other club remains as prescribed in 2.1.4 above.

But does Perth need to top up with some elite players? They showed for a good part of the season that they have a formidable side, but maintaining the high standards they had was a problem. Don't jump all over me boys, as an outsider I was just wondering why some people see a need to do a full refurbishment. Maybe the coach needs to get inside a few heads?
