New coach....i think so
Losing players McIness,Tunbridge,Colledge to the alignment club
Wont have the use of Butler or any other Docker/Eagle dropping back to the wafl.
Rumours on here Reimers is leaving, does Moody go on,Stack,Bevan etc ???????

Lots and lots of work in recruiting on and off field needs to be done,re-signing and player retention a must,if not expect much of the same...bottom 4 finish.

I think Sketcher is going. Moody playing on.

Ali Smith is another name that could be moving on(after the rumours earlier in the season)...already looking like quite a few leaving for various reasons!

30+, from what I heard on Saturday Sketcher was leaving today to return home to Victoria with his Melb girlfriend.

Bevan has agreed to say but not yet signed. He is apparently also under pressure from his partner to go home so could be Ross Young re-visited.
I have heard nothing re Reimers, Stack or Moody. There was a suggestion that the signing of Jarrad Moreton was a high priority as his big brother apparently wants to play with him. Let it be at Brownes and not at Claremont.

Yes, there is a strong rumour re Ali Smith wants to move on. That may depend on the coaching structure for next season whether or not all assistants stay on.

The usual review of football operations to be carried out. A big challenged ahead for the CEO. Speaking with one Director it seems that this season was not a complete waste and that the club had a strong platform to step up further in 2014, apparently.

As for the coaching panel, there are some who are saying the club should keep the current panel together. I have some difficulty with that and firmly believe that the senior position MUST be advertised and the best possible candidate be appointed who in turn should have at least some input as to who his assistants will be. It does seem that Harris may not be available nor interested in applying.

It is going to be critical whatever comes out of the review. I can see big changes being necessary but I am not overly optimistic that the right changes can be or will be made. I am of the firm view that we need changes at Board level. There have been no ballots for positions on the Board for 5 or 6 years and I believe that the club badly needs some new and capable blood to step up and bring some new direction and ideas as well as some corporate pull. Not easy to attract the right people but some effort is needed.

So close this year but no wins against the top contenders and 4 straight bad losses at the business end of the season when we could well of entrenched ourselves in the final 4 and been legitimate contenders. Very disappointing and the dramatic drop off in attendances reflected that.

You speak of the board, which positions exactly do you think needs to open. Do we need someone young (25-40), that isn't afraid of change and can maybe think outside the box a little with ideas to get the younger generation involved/supporting the WAFL.

Just throwing it out there Ashley Prescott. He is leaving the Dockers to pursue other opportunities, Here's the link: www.afl.com.au/news/2013-09-03/docker-ea...assistants-to-depart

I don't allude to any individual members of the Board. It is my personal opinion that, ideally, 2 or 3 changes to the Board would bring some fresh outcomes in regards to the general governance of the club.

With great respect for all Board members, there has been very little change in personel and where change has occurred it has been a matter of one person replacing another. This situation has been the result of one person putting up their hand to serve when no-one else has been willing or able to do so and thereby denying members the opportunity to decide who serves on the Board.

IMHO,it would be a healthy situation to have more people who are passionate about the club and who bleed red and black willing and able to contribute something very positive and prepared to do the hard yards to take the club forward. And therein lies the problem.

Much flak is directed towards the President of another club who has a very high business profile and can attract sponsors and supporters and who himself is a major benefactor of his club. Above all that, he is passionate about his club and he leads it as if it was his own business.

Now I am not suggesting any of our Board members are not passionate but, sadly, we don't seem to have anyone of that ilk who is a long standing member/supporter and attracting an outsider would be fraught with danger. Oh how I wish that there was a Cliff Houghton or Vince Yovich out there.

Just my thoughts that may provoke some constructive discussion.

Vince throws in heaps and heaps of Cash from what I am led to beleive. A major asset to the club is he and I hope we always have him in some regard
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

Having a Vince Yovich or a Cliff Houghton type at the helm would be great. But unfortunately that era of the game has passed us by. I think the current President does do a good job and has the club's best interests at heart and from what I have heard at the Presidents Lunches works tirelessly for the club. The likes of Bronte Howson are a dying bread IMO.

Yes we do need to sell the game as much as possible and when you look at the sponsors of the Royals i.e AHG, Channel 7, The West Australian, some pretty big names there and the money must be reasonably good as well.

Who does John Hughes support? I wonder if he would be up for some sponsorship on the back of the jumper.

John Hughes is a member of the famous Fremantle Hughes family (including Eileen Bond nee Hughes). I think Eileen's father was a long time President of SF.

South Fremantle through and through.

By the way Bronte supports the WAFL in general as well as EP. Southside Mitsubishi is a sponsor at Perth. It was Bronte who saved that sponsorship fur us some years back when Southside looked like pulling the pin.

Yes Vince has been good to the Club but I agree we need more people to put their hand up. We need even more business and football savvy and some debate at board level.

I cannot remember an election since 2004 and then it was only one Director too many after others had been hand picked. For too long Directors have been co-opted on to the board, but that's what happens when no-one puts their hand up.

I fear an extension coming on.

Yep he'd be a good choice but i fear the club will dig there heels in on this one and re-appoint McMahon which in my opinion will be a huge mistake, there will be no "break through year" in 2014.
I feel another re-build coming on!!
Plenty of players in our top 22 will go!
