Perth diehards,
was talking to a few of my fellow royal supporters the other day about the great year you boys had in 1997 and the chat about the battle between your gun robertson who I'm sure was with you guys for a few years and our tough nut Dev Perry. Now I'm not after a p*ssing match and who was tougher etc, but do any of you recall other games where they came up against each other and if they just went at each other the whole game? I know they spoke later on and became mates up in the NT I believe but was hoping someone can give some goss / info on their clashes if anyone recalls them.
also hope to see your team climb back up the ladder, such a strong supported club like perth are needed to be up there with the likes of us and swans, only real chance this comp has getting bigger numbers at games

Yes Kala, Robbo was a great player for Perth in ‘96, ‘97 and ‘98, although he missed quite a few games in 1998 due to injury. He was a tough nut, like Perry, and was always really hard at the contest. He had some great battles against Perry and the most memorable for Perth supporters I imagine would be the first semi in ‘97 when it was very rough going especially in the first quarter and those 2 were clashing heads so to speak. Perth got well on top and ended up having a great win. Wayne Blackwell took over as coach in 1996 and Robbo became his best player. He played half back flank initially but then Blackwell must have realised what a gem he had and moved him to the wing later in the season. In 1997 he was our centreman and had great duels with Rennick from South as well as Devon Perry. 
When Blackwell left to coach EF in 1999 we lost Robbo to the bush I think, and we never saw him again. A real shame because he was only in his mid twenties.
