Great to see Ned Shannon make his debut finally, and also having Q back in the side. Hunter is a big loss obviously but fear not: Brodie Gray is named at full forward!?!

Claremont have also lost Buller though he has a calf injury so probably wasn't going to play anyway so for me that cancels out the loss of Hunter in this game. I'm not a Brodie Gray fan, doesn't do much effectively with the ball in hand. I'd rather back our mids in.

Great to see Ned Shannon named on the extended interchange. He is an elite kick. Great to see AJ named also. We can win this if we bring the intensity we showed against South's. Believe and listen to your coach. Harry and Stubbs it's your time. Grab the bull by the fkn horns.

Bailey Rogers still out for Claremont and Cary named in the reserves. Hopefully he pulls up well.

Gray consistently gets around 30 touches in the reserves, but has yet to find his feet in the league, where he rarely cracks double figures. Maybe we're trying him as a small forward. I don't think he has the pace or skill for that role. Then again, nor the player he replaced, Browne. McPartland is back in the reserves, so if Gray doesn't perform he may find himself out of the league team straight away. Philip's numbers in the reserves suggest he is lucky to be even on the verge of league selection. 

I'll take Browne over Gray any day Ted. He's got a good kick on him and a bit of mongrel. Regan Hill must be injured, not named in the ressies. Bugger, he's a big bodied tall mid with a decent left peg.

I've been disappointed at the progress made by both Baxter Philip and Connor MacDonald this year. I thought both of them would show continued improvement, play 6-8 games of league and really come into their own in 2024. Instead, Philip is getting single figure disposals in the reserves and Connor is back in colts, where his numbers are reasonable, but worse than they were last year as a younger player. 

Brown and Gray are 2 different types.
Gray is 186cm Brown is 176cm.
Averages 8 tackles a game and is used in a negating role. 

Brown out for 8 weeks with an injured thumb.

Would not be surprised to see Gray pick up Teia Miles

I think it's the first time this season we've named an extended interchange. There are 8. I can't see why Sing, Hayward and Clark would miss out and the club has announced Ned Shannon as making his debut. Gray probably replaces the injured Mitch Browne and Shannon is probably in for Regan Hill who's a bit of a mystery. Not named in the reserves and not on the injured list.

They've trimmed the bench now as expected
