I was pleased with today’s effort, we gave one of the flag fancies a scare with brave effort and dare. We fumble too much, EF on the other hand are very clean. But that’s ok Rome wasn’t built in a day but I like the foundations that are being laid. There are some green shoots. Liking the development of players like Johnston, Brogan-Henry and Hill. Outstanding game by DBW, 26 possessions, 33 hit outs, 8 clearances (most in the game) and a goal. His physical condition has improved out of sight under German.

Belief is building. Then there is the continued winning form of the colts and reserves. Lay off Quartermaine you blokes. As Lee Spurr said late in the first quarter, he’s managed to find separation on a few occasions, if the delivery had been better he could have taken 3 or 4 marks and kicked a few goals. He takes the oppositions biggest defender. Let’s get scary Cary in there.

It's fine to keep faith with Q, but he hasn't kicked a goal all year. (yes, I get that delivery into the forward line has been poor) He was a bit better yesterday, at least taking 3 marks, but he has 11 disposals and 5 marks from three games. When Hunter is match fit (he was out with concussion yesterday) he is has to replace Q. They are the same age, but Hunter is simply a better player. He is also versatile, can play in the backline or even back up ruck. Same goes even for AJ - I'd rather play him forward than Q. I am not at all convinced by AJ's forward craft, but he's more mobile than Q and can play other roles if he's struggling forward.

Didn't come up for the game as I was expecting a belting.
It is hard to stay patient when you have tried to stay patient for 45 odd years.
But I am trying.
I saw some promising signs yesterday, not from an instant fix point of view, but I can see a change coming.
Some of our players will probably be replaced by "A" graders, but I can also see improvement in some of them.
It will take a lot of practice for our players to become proficient with the new game plan which does take precision.
We will get better and a good win this week against WCER will help with the confidence.
I'm with you TN, Q is not the answer. Both AJ & Hunter are streets ahead.
Hunter for me is the exciting prospect, he can become a real "A" grader IMHO.
Those stats for Q say a lot about him. IMHO that points to laziness and lack of effort including the lack of chasing.
All in all, I think we may be pointed in the right direction.

TN, concussion for Hunter is good news.
I was hoping that it was not continuing bad luck for the young man.
He is a great prospect in IMHO.

What does everyone think about Coniglio?, he's been at the club for a number of seasons now but doesn't appear to have improved a great deal, I've hardly seen any live games so maybe off the mark, is he part of the future team

Jackson made a promising debut for the club but based on possessions didn't back his performance up, was he injured?

DF concussion is never a good thing. Quartermaine takes the oppositions biggest defender. In the first qtr against Peel he started very well kicked a perfect pass to Stubbs who marked and missed a very gettable set shot then later dropped a mark from another good pass from Q. He took a great contested mark against 2 EF defenders. Supply is an issue. IMO he is worth persisting with. He has worked hard on his fitness and is a much leaner figure than when he arrived at our club.

If Hunter played in that game yesterday maybe Q gets off the chain. EF had the luxury of 2 key forwards we do not have atm. I hope Peter German sticks with him. And yesterday he and Bird did the support ruck work for DBW.

Ajang Ajang played at full back in the reserves yesterday on a 204cm forward. Not sure why he is not rucking, that's what he was recruited for. Maybe his pectoral injury is the reason.

WB Coniglio made a couple of clangers yesterday but had a few mates in that area. Ned Shannon is one I am watching recruited from Frankston. Playing out of the back pocket atm and did a lot of the kicking out duties. Is a beautiful left foot kick. Looks composed.
