Pretty futile exercise trying to figure out a round 1 line up but let's open up ideas.

B. Conglio Taylor Johnston
HB. Howard Sinclair Sing
C. Davis Thompson Manzone
HF. Stack Stubbs Clarke
F. Barwick Quartermaine McPartland

Ruck. DBW Lane Byrne

Int. Martin Bird Brogan-Henry Dellamarta
Em. Avery Jackson Poole

Assuming Ewing and Clark are unavailable from yesterday's game.
Players unavailable and yet to play in any pre season matches Ajang Ajang, Hunter, Cary, John, Shannon

Howard limped off late in last night's game so might not get up. Second ruck is a problem along with a big key defender. German has shown faith in young Johnston at 197cm. He is raw but showing a willingness to compete and that's all we can ask as he develops.

CHF is Hunter's spot when he is ready and Cary can play that role when available.

But the future under German is the young guys coming through the reserves. Fairbank, Phillip, Regan Hill, Preston-Coates etc....

Don't think Jackson or Poole played yesterday but both shown a bit in previous practise matches.

I believe that Avery will slip into the backline especially if Taylor does not get up.
I was impressed with Oscar Bird’s fast leading and marking up forward. I think he is finally being given an opportunity to develop and should be in the first 22.
Germo obviously likes Johnston’s size 197cm and sees upside. He is only 20. Like Bird, he will be a work in progress. Good to see players being given time to develop at top level.
Q is a big Q for me . A lazy first half last night rewarded with a huge spray at the first break. Got more into the game in second half.
Likewise Stubbs. Showed better work rate in second half but over all had little impact.
McPartland looks like he has done some hard work in the gym and could well be in the mix, and I liked Hayward’s game. He is small but tough and he is good below his knees. A bit underrated because of his size but he has put his name before the selectors.
Of the recruits, Thompson, Barwick, Manzone and Howard look like good inclusions. Lane a “wait and see” for me.

Jye Lane has been one of the better players in the two scratchies Smokey.. He is going to be a big asset as a tall big bodied mid with a big kick on him. We need to get the forward set up right. Hopefully Stack plays in the ones this week.

Hey all you Dee-ites....given the game on Saturday is across dinner time, are there any other food options available besides those disgusting HJ burgers? I had one last year and it was like cardboard.

Jye Lane hardly falls into the category of a tall DD….183/82. Yes, he has a good kick and hopefully will turn out to be a good get but for now I reserve judgement as a wait and see. I wish him well and hope he proves me wrong.

Nothing to suit the gourmet tastes of $ supporters: HJs, Joe's Greasy Spoon Food Van; Mr Whippy. Get yourself a fruit cup,

I’m trying the Vic Park Hotel before the game. I reckon it would be great if Perth had a local pub support/sponsor them like the Left Bank does The Sharks.
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

Oh right. I will get there soon. Any photos of the team on the wall? Or something similar would be nice.

I guess having the old 77 premiership team up on the wall would look a bit dated though
