Paul Bevan, yes he was a ripper. Made a slow start getting used to playing on a proper sized oval unlike that junior ground in Sydney but once he adapted he became a very good captain and leader.

Very unfortunate losing Masto, he started so well last year before breaking a thumb against Claremont when we were unbeaten at that point I think and won that game. He hasn't looked the same this year. He has always been very vocal in the huddles so lets hope he hangs around in an assistant role this year and beyond.

He is a bubbly and popular character around the club with a ton of experience and knowledge so I hope the club utilizes him in an off field role. I would put him in charge of our zones setting up programs and identifying talent.

I also wouldn't underestimate that signing Masten helped in signing other players. Yeah, probably didn't get the games out of him that you'd like but by the sounds there's been residual benefits elsewhere. As for Loersch.....gee whiz
