I usually watch the games from the grand stand, however over the last couple of scratches matches and the last few games last year,  I have been closer to the boundary and one thing that has really stood out to me is our players arguing with the umpires over decisions.. You hear the odd comment from opposition players but our players were terrible and on many occasions simply bloody wrong.
I've never seen an umpire change his decision because a player argued with him.

Has anyone else noticed this and does it effect the umpires? because free kick stats suggests it might.

Thoughts?

Yes PD I think it has been a problem for many years.
It comes down to team discipline and needs to improve although I think there are some good signs.
The discipline applies to lots of things that happen on the field.
Adhering to team rules on and off the field.
Even simple things like how you depart the field at interchange time.
How you behave when the opposition has the football.
How you react to incidents involving hits on teammates.
etc etc...
It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It's the size of the fight in the dog.
Winning isn't everything. It's the ONLY THING !!!!!!
I shot the fukin sherriff!!!!

Well that might extend to some supporters and officials in the past that have set a bad example including one ex official.

What should players do when their teammates get hit. No one remonstrated with Treacy when he roundhouse Grey. I think our senior players should  have gone over and gotten right in his face.

Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!
