More sad news for the club.
Chester McKean, 1977 premiership player passed away yesterday after a battle with cancer.
A sad loss. Condolances to his family.

Yes Chester was a good ruckman. The recruitment of Dean Herbert in 1976 actually pushed Chester out of the team that year. Although Herbert proved to be a key player, Chester was a bit unlucky not to have been a dual premiership player.

If my memory serves me Chester also played in the 1978 Grand Final.

That’s a damn shame. Condolences to his family, friends and former team mates. I remember the number 19 fondly and was a favourite as I played football with a younger cousin of his who was a bloody star in the East Perth junior district with Bedford. Don’t know why he didn’t go on to play league footy, was Ken Hunter like and that is no exaggeration. R.I.P Chester.

Very sad to hear of Chester's passing. Loved this bloke as a kid. We had some great ruckman in that period. Rosbender, Herbert, McKean.
