What a disgrace this situation is and erodes further my already heavily eroded faith in this competition. I could handle it when Francis Watson was shifted off to the Royals because he was officially drafted onto West Coasts rookie list and the usual draft transfer fees were paid to us according to the laws of the comps. But this is a player Fremantle MIGHT be interested in drafting so they get to put him in their reserves side and make a decision a season (or 2? 3? 4?) later. Oh and because a mere WAFL club can’t fulfill his potential. Until a player becomes an official AFL list member surely he is the property of his WAFL club, this is simply big brother dictatorship daylight robbery. What a joke, and it’s going to happen to Swans any day now also.

Pissweak

And when President Grant Povey said “we hope the decision doesn’t compromise the integrity of the West Australian football pathway” we all know what he was really saying

This is Mandurah's new recruiting mechanism - this kid is suddenly eligible to play league footy under some bullshit lie that all of sudden his welfare is compromised at Claremont FC
The two AFL arses have found a loophole in this Academy rort - now they can get recruits via the backdoor outside of a system the WAFL clubs are bound to & threatened to adhere to

From what I read this is an arrangement for one year and he reverts back to being a Claremont player after the 2018 season. Also he is included in the limit of 12 afl players if he plays in the WAFL finals and needs special permission to do so. There is no mention of any compensation to Claremont for this and it appears that again the wants of the afl system overrides any consideration of the WAFL clubs. My objection is that this type of thing compromises the ever diminishing integrity of the WAFL competition.

Totally agree with you TOO as I posted on another thread about this a few days back yet another example of disgraceful treatment of the G6 clubs from the wafc, afl & the 2 afl and their reserves clubs!
To not even offer up any compensation either is an utter disgrace!

Isn't he a part of Freo's academy BH and a certainty to be drafted by them next year, pretty much their player anyway, and didn't compensation to clubs stop a year ago.

I got a laugh out of you posting G6 clubs that won't please the Subi supporters.

He should only become Peels player when he becomes a Fremantle list member I say, if the Kimberley is going to be a zone that Peel get players from and east Perth also via this “academy” business then maybe they should become their zones and us and Swans can go elsewhere.

So let me understand. Alignment clubs Peel and EP are for listed AFL players.
Carter is not a listed player. Just another mind boggling decision from HQ

Sounds like an uneducated whinge to me.

The AFL divided the country up into 18 "Zones" a year or so ago, and allowed each AFL club to use this zone as a talent academy that gives them first pick over any other club in Australia.

Based on that decision the WAFL should have moved quicker and rezoned the state around these changes. They chose not to

Swans could also be a loser here as the Eagles have access to kids in the Pilbara, regardless of what Swans have done for that kid previously.

You all may be upset with the rules but its nothing to do with the G6 or Peel being cheeky, this is just Fremantle doing what they are entitled to do by having the Kimberley as their development academy as assigned to them by the AFL.

All AFL clubs are now putting these 16 year old kids into their own areas to ensure they are given the best chance to succeed, and to ensure the AFL clubs know what they are getting when they draft these kids.

If the WAFL was serious they would have redrawn the zones years ago, but that would upset the other clubs in Perth by having to compensate Swans and Claremont for losing their current recruiting zones. So rather than having balls and running the comp fairly the WAFL has done nothing and this is the end outcome

it should be Peel and East Perth that should be losing their country zones to compensate Swans and Claremont.
