Swans recruits have to cover their own clearance fee or like the kid joining from East Perth get their old man to pay

We haven't actually recruited anyone since 2012 LH, yes I know mainly due to our own fault ..bar Houghton who is a straight swap for Latch!

In that same time period off the top of my head $ubi have recruited-

SD- Twomey, Hilda (back but originally Peel), Daniels
P- McDougall, Kayler-Thompson
WP- Stockley, Latham, McPhee, Elliott
Peel- Jacky, Herring, Yarran, Heal
EF- Menegola, Hancock
SF- Phillips

Vic- Mahoney, Delahunty, Boland, Smith
SA- Gum
Qld- Daye
Tas- McDonald

I have no problem with $ubi recruiting to fix a gap or 2 each year but 23 players in less than 3 years!!!

Good easy fix for your blokes LH but doesnt do much for all those talented Colts boys you have warned us all about for the last decade or so!!

happy with the arrival of the bush, in his prime at 23 turning 24 and bigger than I realised at 94 odd kilos, needs a change of luck with injury obviously

BH, I will admit that I'm not as hopeful that as many kids will get league opportunities as the previous two seasons. But I suppose I best wait and see how it all pans out before I ark up.

Beasley Hutton,you are way off the mark.Swans recruited Elari, Rogers,Duckworth,Menegola,Goodwin,Ethan Hughes and as you mentioned Houghton in 2013 and 2014.We recruited our own back in Jacky after being poached by Swans and then Peel.McDougall was picked up after he had retired.Elliot was only on a colts list for WP when swapped for one of our colts and Yarran was not on any WAFL list when Subi cleverly picked him up.Stockley and Latham were starved of opportunities at WP and the same can be said for Mcphee.The other point to note is there are no big name recruits on our list such as Seaby,Bevan,Krakouer,Hansen,Young,Josh Smith,Mark Mcgough,Luke Blackwell,Paul Johnson,etc..And Nathan Phillips was recruited from SF in 2012, the same year Swans recruited Hildebrandt,Motlop,Forster,Cary and re -recruited Werribee product Twomey back from a brief stint at Carlton.We all know why Swans recruiting has slowed down and we all know what they would be spending money on if they had it.

some clarification needed there Mudlark:
Menegola started at Swans in 2010
Duckworth joined Swans from the bush, hadnt played WAFL since 2010
Goodwin wasnt a recruit, hadnt played wafl for 2 years before the WAFC sent him to Swans and was only a reserves player
Hughes hardly a recruit, only played 2 league games
Forster was a Docker
Cary was picked up from the ammos
Houghton contacted Swans and was told he could only join if a a swap could be arranged, hence Latch was swapped so its a nil-nil result.

if you count recruiting as picking up blokes for free from other clubs, the ammos or the bush then yes we have done a lot of recruiting

Okay,MO,clarification accepted.That being the case,Subi have only recruited a reasonable number of 14 since 2012,a far cry from the 23 that Beasley Hutton suggested.Daniels and Heal only played 4 games each at other clubs,McDougall came out of retirement,Latham and Mcphee and Elliot all zero games,Yarran from an amateur league and Jacky one of ours returning.Phillips 2012.That means we beat EP in the GF with just 7 recruits as opposed to their 14.Again,none of our recruits are household names as compared to those that represented EP that day.
